Halo Infinite Post Flight Thoughts

Hey everyone, thought I’d jot down my thoughts on The flights while it’s still fresh and see what others think.

  1. I think the game feels great for where it’s at, nice blend of classic with modern halo. Gameplay is a bit clunky at times (series X) but sure it will be smoother come launch. I think they have done a fantastic job with the sound effects, sandbox, game mechanics and I really like the score so far.

  2. Maps have been decent so far - pretty adaptable and feasible for OBJ and slayer game types. Looking forward to seeing the rest at launch. Wouldn’t mind seeing an old classic remake being thrown in there aswell (particularly a H3 map as I feel the gameplay would suit the maps).

  3. I think they should implement teammate interactions and grenade jumps as these are, for me, key parts of halo history. The plasma pistol surely needs to emp vehicles at launch… doesn’t make sense to remove that and gives vehicles a massive buff.

  4. Remove the bloom from the sidekick - it’s so inconsistent and was definetly my least favourite part of reach when it first came in to play.

  5. From what I’ve read and seen from the flight I really don’t like the progression system - seems boring and for me doesn’t offer much incentive to play. I don’t like the mcc exp system either. I think something like 3 or reaches exp system is perfect - even 4 and 5 are better, at least they give you something to play for.

  6. I hope the ranking system is tweaked from halo 5 to make it a bit harder. It was far too easy to get onyx/champion. After a few seasons I could lose all my placement games and still be given onyx rank. If they can make it harder the achieving the top ranks would carry a bit more weight and I’d like to see this implemented.

  7. Fix the beatdown glitch :joy:

  8. I don’t like the random weapon spawns we are getting on the maps - one game there’s brs, next it’s the commando. I’d like to see it more consistent with the weapons spread across the map at different spawn points.

  9. I’d like to see the old multi kill timing system return as based on what I’ve seen it looks a lot easier to hit high multikills and it takes a bit of the credibility away.

I’m sure I’ve missed something but anyways that’s my thoughts so far. Really looking forward to the game launching and getting our hands on a new halo game after a long wait!

Excellent post. In fact, I kinda want some modes from Halo 4 to come back, like Ricochet and Dominion. Not sure about Regicide yet.

Aiming system for controller players needs some serious work. I found myself not wanting to play due to frustration. And I shouldn’t have to sit in settings menue for 30 minutes trying to make aiming feel better.

Some major stuff came to light like the BxB glitch and all the flag glitches. Also yes I do not like what im hearing about ranking up if you truly only rank up doing challenges whats the point of winning unless theres a challenge to win people will just be going for these super niche challenges. Id also love seeing remakes of old halo maps that isnt midship. Id like to see halo 3 Pit and narrows remade. For the ranking system ya I agree ranking up was too easy and it was actually harder to get bronze then champ. Hearing they have ideas for ranked rewards got me excited and hopefully the ranked ladder is more competitive.

While i agree about the challenges being a bad idea it’s not like that you can rank up very fast just by playing normally it’s really quite easy. What worries me most is running out of tiers on the battle pass way before the season ends which means the same result as you said. People will eventually just stop playing if there is nothing to grind for whatsoever. I just hope we can show our ranks from ranked play. I noticed we had levels like spartan ranks next to the emblem.
