Halo Infinite: Plot Theory [potential spoilers]

Keeping this brief, it’s certainly unlikely that this theory will actually feature in Halo: Infinite, but I postulate what follows for humor’s sake.

Two years have passed since the events of Halo 5 (see the date in downed pelican in the teaser trailer). Cortana and the other rogue AIs used the Guardians to launch an EMP strike against Earth and the major colonies. However, we saw at the end of the credits on Halo 5 (Legendary ending) that the remaining Halos were either unaffected by the EMP, or were outside of its range.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Halo: Infinite involves a race between humans and Cortana/AI’s to fire the Halos. Cortana may seek to fire the Halos in their default setting to wipe our organic life. Meanwhile, the humans (and their allies) may race to reconfigure the Halos to wipe out all AI, and thereafter fire them.

Again, just a theory.

The Halos are the only things in the entire galaxy that, if fired, can actually damage the Domain (source:Halo Silentium).
So…I can say that Chief could use the rings in Halo infinite. And this explain the title.
An infinite loop where at every cycle the rings reboot the galaxy to stop a terrific threat.

Ironically enough, I remember Hidden Xperia making a video theorizing how Halo could be stuck in an infinite loop. The way I perceive this theory is that every time you die, the Flood tends to take over, then the rings are fired but everything repeats the same way up until that point where you die. It takes some seconds back, then you gain control of Chief and he’ll basically correct his death mistake to succeed. That same way, every time someone boots a level, this happens and you gain control of the character where we start. MIND-CEPTION.

That doesn’t make sense. Cortana’s goal isn’t to wipe out organic life, as we’ve seen with the Unggoy she is willing to send aid to species who submit to her authority. She simply believes the Created are better suited to run the affairs of the galaxy. The only reference Cortana makes to destroying organic life is a possible reference to finding a way to Compose those who oppose her and remake them in the image of the Created, probably AIs and AIs made to follow her whims at that. Perhaps she’d try to do the same thing the Didact did in Halo: Escalation and perhaps combine the range of the Halos with the effects of the Composer, but simply destroying organic life serves no purpose for the Created.

I don’t think that would make much sense, even if she decided to use the Halo rings as a deterrent to resistance like the Guardians already are, she would need a human to activate them, and I don’t think there would be too many volunteers for that.

Great story but is a surpise…infinite

Firing the Halos at all will severely damage or possibly destroy the domain, so the Created most definitely will not be doing that. Besides, that goes against the mantle and what the Created are trying to do.
