What is the difference. I just called my game store and he said that Xbox was coming out with a new system.
I don’t have a X one but I’m looking forward to the next Halo. Should I buy a x one now or wait ?
Halo infinite is basically what they are calling halo 6 at the moment anyway. Halo infinite is said to be released around this time next year on the x box one, xbox one x and project scarlet when it launches around this time next year. This is just my understanding so don’t quote me on this.
EDIT: In case I wasn’t clear project scarlet is the next console that launches next year.
343 are no longer going with numbered titles for Halo moving forward. What maybe would have been Halo 6 at one point is called Halo Infinite
Personally, if your Xbox still works just fine, I’d wait for Scarlet to come out and drop in price a bit before upgrading. It’s not beneficial to jump to the next gen console straight out the gate for multiple reasons:
- It’s rather pricey and will probably drain your wallet (people believe the Scarlet’s going to be about $1k at launch) - It’s bound to have its day 1 jitters, bugs, kinks, etc, so you’ll more than likely lose your Scarlet if the problem is that bad - Most of your friends likely won’t be buying Scarlet day 1, they will likely wait till X-mas or when the price drops considerably or until their Xbox One gets too behindWhen Xbox One came out, I waited about a year before jumping ship because most of my friends moved on to the One. I would have been the only one still on the 360. Not only that, I apparently ended up missing all the awful features that the day 1 One’s came with (the requirement to stay connected to the internet 24/7, requiring the Kinect 2.0 which actively spied on its users apparently even when the Xbox One was off, no backwards compatibility, the requirement to buy several copies of games because you couldn’t even account share them once you bought/installed them on your account so your brothers/sisters/kids/parents/etc had to have their own independent copies, all of the burnout bugs like failing graphics cards, catching on fire, etc.).
But that’s just my outlook on it. If you really want to buy a Scarlet next year as soon as it drops, I won’t stop you. If you don’t have a One and you want something to do until then, I’d probably just grab a used/refurbished one just to get you to next year.
Halo Infinite and H6 are the same thing. Its official name is Infinite, people just called it H6 before the name was revealed because the last one was 5.
As far as systems. The new xbox is coming out next year holiday season but Infinite will also be available on XB1 so it’s your call. Personally I’d wait if you’re just getting a system for Infinite.
They’re the same. I for one want and like numerical titles. Should have named it Halo 6: Infinite just like H5 was Halo 5: Guardians.
PR and optics have encouraged 343i to step away from numbering Halo games beyond 5 (they eased us away by giving that game a “: subtitle”, too.) I personally wish they’d have rounded out the naming convention on 6 rather than 5 (two clean trilogies) but that would defeat their intentions to move away from the traditional trilogy narrative formula in turning Halo into a nebulous “Saga”. In one way, the change is positive in making newer games more accessible/ less intimidating to new players.
So, yeah, basically Infinite is Halo 6.
