Remember where you used to create offline profiles before. How dies this relate to Halo? Well, it gives people without an Xbox one account and without internet to have a chance to play halo.
Thanks to don who made it “always online” which we had a meme of “buy a 360”. Thank god Phil tried to fix it, yoy can still play MCC if you’re nit connected but you can’t earn achievements.
I’d like to see offline profiles return in project Scarlett so more new players can get to try infinite after all its confirmed to be. “spiritual reboot”. I don’t think this is going to happen but id love it if it did, this is a great way to get new people into Halo without internet.
Disc:
Remember the times where you can share a disc to a friend and play halo together. It got ruined by the Xbox one reveal where are pre own fee and required to install. How does this relate to Halo to? It gives your friend a chance to try Halo or play it together split screen with a friend, and it gives it a chance to enjoy the halo experience.
Reason why i made this forum is because it’s launching on an Xbox Scarlett.
I dint think this feature will ever come back sadly.
I don’t think there have been any announcements about how Scarlett will handle DRM and the online-only contraversies that cost Microsoft even a shot at taking the win for this console generation. But I’d be optimistic about MS’ attitude on this- As you alluded to, Phil Spencer has proven to be a real Anti-Mattrick and exactly the kind of guy needed at the helm of the Xbox team. He and his team are in charge of the decisions that will shape the Scarlett and define its role in the console market, both against competitors and as an iterative step ahead for Xbox.
Again, no announcements to officially say one way or the other at this point. But Phil has earned enough of my respect in salvaging the Xbox One into something that’s not only playable, but very enjoyable (to the minority of console players who have one) for me to give him the benefit of the doubt on the next Xbox.
Project Scarlett is confirmed to have a disc drive, so you probably don’t have to worry about not being able to lend it to a friend. As for full offline capability, it’s hard to say.
I mean, it would be just stupid to remake same mistakes though it seems awfully much like so, maybe not by those aspects necessarily but in a direction of a cheap PC whatsoever.
And I guess at least some feedback went through when they are talking about optimizing console for gaming (around 20 seconds into the link) which should have been obvious with the Xbox one, but I guess it was not since it’s pretty much all over the place with multitasking.
But the always online thing hopefully stays behind as part of that scheme against used games or borrowing games which was later changed a bit given originally was supposed to be that gamers would have had to be online every 24 hours which obviously caused pretty much an outrage & possibly had some bad influence on marketing.
And offline profiles are more convenient for various customers such as families with multiple kids, co-op gamers, friend groups, people with internet problems or even lack of it and so on. So it would be a shame to see startup online requirement to return.
And installing definitely is a problem when it’s a console losing one of the edges against computers.
It’s just much more convenient when the filesize could be 100 gigs, it should be an option to lessen loading times but it should not be forced option. And it obviously has a much bigger problem which is that the memory storage for the console gets just eaten up with just a few games, even now when new games get bigger by the time the console tech just gets old in comparison and the original storage can maybe hold something like 5 of the biggest games out there while old consoles could hold up dozens of games without a need of external harddrives.
So hopefully the scarlett will regain some of the edges old consoles used to have, which are mostly social aspects in real life instead of making it a cheap PC which is maybe somewhat convenient to keep up as platform for games but technically falls behind PCs rapidly.
Im hoping Microsoft learned from Xbox one but im not judging or hyping future product before I see a bit more details about it.

As long as I can play the game as a choice offline then I’m not worried about achievements unlocking offline since I’ve had plenty of memories back in the day with the original’s and playing the games for fun. The problem with Halo 5 is that it basically blocked that feature…and oddly was never patched either since modes like forge should not need to be online so I hope Infinite ditch’s the online only since I don’t want to deal with that again. I still remember how annoyed I was when I found out Half Life 2 required Steam when I bought it years back since I had never known Steam was a thing, was expecting it to play straight out of the box like every other PC game I owned so I don’t want the same issues to repeat on console since I’d rather have the choice to play offline/online without needing to connect to online.

Required install is so the game runs smoothly off the HDD rather than slowly off a disc. You can still bring your disc to a friends and play together… there is no preowned fee?

hmm, they might have removed it but MCC and 5 took lots of space and it takes a while to get them downloaded. Evetoje pretty much didn’t like the feature. Let’s see what infinite will be like but i think it’s going to be the same but launch title in Scarlett is a good move

They are big and do take a long time to install, but it is for preformance stability.

They did remove it. It’s been that way since the Xbox One launched. They had no choice. I give my children my discs and they install them and play with the disc in the tray. No reason why Scarlett will be any different imo. As for being playable offline. Who knows ?

Infinite is being supported with lan parties and split screen so it will play offline like MCC

We’ll see. I think it will be a mostly online game.
I hope you don’t have to be online on the Scarlett, I hate when the one doesn’t let me sign in because, I’m not connected to the Internet, we should be able to play offline.

Time will tell. Holiday 2020 is a long ways off. My level of excitement would be through the roof if true offline play was possible like it was with the Xbox 360. Being able to create any username you wanted and play splitscreen or system link.
