Am I understanding right that most of the game, obviously excluding online multiplayer, will be playable offline? The way it’s worded in the blog it seems like campaign, customs and maybe forge will be offline playable. Didn’t seem clear if that extended to bots or not but I’d hope so.

What wording ? I’ve always assumed the majority if not all will be online. Can you link the wording you’re referring to ?

——comes from this paragraph of the blog, right at the very end———-“In addition to Ranked and Social matchmaking playlists, players will also experience limited-time seasonal events with special rewards on the line. Console and PC players will play together via crossplay while support for cross-progression means you can move freely from one platform to the other and keep working on your Spartan’s journey. Xbox Series X owners will also enjoy up to 120FPS on supported hardware and PC players will have a wide variety of configurable settings spanning framerate to graphics to key binds and more. Of course, online isn’t the only way to enjoy multiplayer – Halo Infinite will also support splitscreen on Xbox and LAN play via a PC local server.”

Split screen suggests some offline mode imo. Not sure what LAN via a PC local server means though. It’s not 100% laymens terms is it ? Old LAN parties just required 4 Xbox consoles. Maybe it’s like that.

It’s a little vague. That’s why I’m wondering if anyone has seen or knows anymore about it. LAN and PC local usually means either console to console by Ethernet or on the same local WiFi network. And it says, “online isn’t the only way to enjoy multiplayer.”

I think it’s a bonus if it can be played offline. I’m not bothered as I’m always connected but I respect others are not, so kudos to 343i if it truly has an offline mode for those that want it. I’ll update this thread if I see / hear anymore about it.
offline lol that would of course be great but nah expect MS to give up the finger as usual when it comes this sort of thing. Would love to be very wrong of course as Forge and custom multiplayer is something very much enjoyed offline by many especially as it now will have bots. But I wont be holding my breath
To be honest we don’t actually know at this point if Campaign is offline playable either which is frustrating. I presume it will be but we’re kept in the dark

I’m just hoping it’s not like Destiny, where you need internet just to press Start in the main menu. I’d like to be able to do at least a few things offline, like forge and multiplayer with bots but preferably campaign too.

for sure, and it’s not too much to expect either The fact is there’s no guarantee players of Destiny will be able to even play these games several years from now being they have an authentication process in place and considering I still play HaloCE 29 years later for example, potentially this problem is exactly the sane issue for Infinite if we have to authenticate that way. People need to at least be thinking of the potential issues this brings down the line for people that enjoy playing their games for years to come. And the thing is having internet really isn’t the problem being brought up when they mention this stuff

I would really appreciate some clarification from 343 industries on this. Call of Duty games have a lot of different limitations on bots and offline modes depending on the game, so I’m automatically wary that there are a bunch of catches to playing with bots and offline.

Exactly. There’s been some cod games that cut your options in half or entirely remove entire aspects of the multiplayer and/or customization when it’s offline
