Halo infinite number of missions

The number of missions was always a relevant thing to discuss in halo games, but also the mission quality (This manner I only have good things to say when talking about the visuals and halo’s landscape), so how many missions do you guys think would be nice to see in Halo Infinite and if you guys prefer only chief’s missions our Halo 5 alike?

I shouldn’t feed rumors, but if what they say is true about it being open world and such, we might not have a traditional set of missions like we’re used to.

How I interpreted your post title: Halo 6, infinite number of missions.

And yes, I would like an infinite amount of missions. Because one of the implications of a game called Infinite is, to me at least, that it includes features for user-generated content. My favourite would be single-player missions, or customised enemy encounters in campaign levels, or enemy AI in Forge mode. This way, Halo can truly provide infinite gameplay which is always new and adapting.

If the rumors and speculation are true and Halo Infinite is open world then there is a likely possibility that we will see a much larger amount of missions than in previous games. I’m not sure how I feel about this though to be honest. I enjoy the sometimes lengthy missions you get in Halo and I feel like open world games don’t always have lengthy, in-depth missions as much as linear games do.
To answer your question though, I would prefer the amount of missions that Halo 2 had. H2 was able to fit in a decently long story with good gameplay. I also enjoyed the time I got to play as the Arbiter but in terms of sharing the story with different characters I would much rather have more Master Chief than anyone else like in Halo 5. The core Halo games have always been about the Master Chief so the Halo 5 campaign to me felt more like a spin off (and not a great one).
So in short, I’d like a Halo 2-like campaign

That’s speculation, 343i have not confirmed anything about that. I would like levels akin to Halo CE, big open areas to explore. It would be nice to have 15 to 20 levels that can be tackled in various ways, I want a less linear approach.

Each game has had 9 or more missions I believe.I would say 9 to 12 would be fine as long as they’re not too short

That’s why I said I don’t like feeding rumors. I personally have no idea if they will do this or not, but if it were hypothetically open world then this is a possibility.

I wouldn’t mind the open world approach either. With all the showcases of CP2077 that I’m totally hyped for as well 343 could prove some serious competition in the open world FPS market if they do it right. Though I have trouble imagining what kind of quests / side quests H:I could have outside of the standard “go there and shoot this”, “rescue these people” etc. They seriously would need some interesting main and side quest stories to compete and keep me interested, especially if they plan for the game to be 100+ hours long.

I don’t think the number matters. The story should be done first and then mission cuts from there. I still believe that CE is the golden child for the foundation of greatness. (Excluding multiplayer, stick with H2 for ideas)

as for an open world idea … don’t.
destiny, anthem, division all suffer from a story telling perspective and grind incentives to continue.

I’m more concerned about the overall length of the campaign rather than amount of missions. If it’s linear like it has been so far I want around 8-10 hours minimum, not 4-6 like H5.

24 mission for 24 hours (1m=1h) is a great idea

I believe there will be 12 missions in total and I would so agree that each mission shouldn’t be too short. Other numbers I thought of include 10, 15, 18, or even 20 but I think 12 is the most likely.

I think believe we get 25 or 26 missions in halo infinite

Um… If we waited 5 years for regular amount of missions. That would be a massive disappointment.

I’m kinda worried this open world thing will make campaign shorter.

I still think we might get about 20 or 30 missions in Halo Infinite especially if there is open world gameplay in the new Halo video game.

It will be a single continuous mission without loading screens. Which will make us go through the entire open map of the ring.

Really hope this isn’t the case, it would likely mean the game is lacking in variety and excludes Covenant-built or human-built settings which past games have had.
Maybe there could be a huge Banished ship that crashed on the ring and is part of the open world that way, but that would sorta go against the whole “we beat the UNSC easily” thing

i think halo infinite will have 100 more missions  because if it will be open world and long this is the count of it

for campaign 10 or 11 kinda liked how reach went with its Arcs in the campaign a lot of stuff mashed in together felt like a satisfied experience along with Easter eggs to find.

regarding other stuff like repayable content that would appear in semi/full open world esque games I’d hope there be a variety of at least 10 types of missions would be good start but hopefully they aren’t painfully dull like they are lets say in Assassins creed or Far Cry. I’ve got an idea if the open world idea holds any weight side quests would be something like these:

>investigate UNSC/banished wreckage
>Destroy X Outpost
>Investigate Forerunner structure
>Rescue Infinitely Personnel
> Gather supplies
>Liberate some vehicles/hardware
>Capture X Base
> Capture Lookout Post

some idea with them still being very samey
