I have no idea where the right place for Halo Infinite Technical Test feedback is, so apologies if this shouldn’t go here.
Just booted up the tech test for the first time and was trawling through the options when I noticed there is only a checkbox for “Borderless Fullscreen” or “Borderless” modes. This is a really bad user experience for people using G-Sync monitors. G-Sync is really flaky with “Borderless Fullscreen” applications, and to get my monitor to be compatible with G-Sync I had to enable it only for “Exclusive Fullscreen” apps.
Please could this be added as an option for future tests/the full release? It’s a shame to not get any of the benefits of G-Sync because you decided to omit the option. I’m sure other G-Sync users would appreciate it too.

I noticed a lot of the issues I had with user settings on PC for MCC apply for Infinite as well. I understand this is just a demo, but the game is going to be released in at least 4 months from now so I can’t help but be a little worried there might not be any accommodation for the PC users.
Yes please! I have a Razer Raptor monitor and any game that doesn’t have exclusive fullscreen is always choppy even at higher framerates, please include an exclusive fullscreen option 343, it’s a make or break for me…
An actual Exclusive Fullscreen mode would still be preferable!
I tried forcing it with Special K, and with it active the frametime graphs went from constant & massive fluctuations to something mostly stable in the Infinite test, the pacing in general was still pretty jittery w/ Gsync. The Special K overlay didn’t say Gsync was “supported and active” like it usually does in other games when using Special K to force it in other borderless fullscreen games (like pretty much anything using Unity). The Special K overlay also crashes Halo Infinite, so I had to configure stuff via the .ini file, doubt it’s working properly. Definitely helps a bit with the frame timing and frame stability, at least.

How did you get Special K working with infinite? It tells me injection is disabled because its VAC protected
they STILL haven’t fixed this? a bunch of people gave this feedback from the last flight, and it’s just completely ignored and they won’t acknowledge it. I don’t know what the problem is with microsoft games never having fullscreen but it’s stupid. we get it, borderless is cool you can switch between tabs really fast, but don’t force us to use it. exclusive fullscreen not only makes performance better by a metric ton, but it also reduces input delay. they really need to fix this before the game launches, the fact they still won’t acknowledge it is worrying.

Did global injection and added HaloInfinite.exe to the whitelist.

do you mind sharing your .ini file in a pastebin or something?

If the game isn’t launching with it active, start the global service after the game has started to load, or try increasing the GlobalInjectDelay= in the .ini
I should probably try to see if there’s a newer version, I’m sure mine is out of date.
Absolutely must. Exclusive fullscreen. You notice this with alot of these exclusive MS titles. So many game on Gamepass PC just don’t have exclsive fullscreen as an option, only borderless or windowed.

thank you! Mine is having no issues launching with it active and I’m on the latest test version
So I’m reading everyones comments on this for this weekends tech preview. Its sad that this isn’t a feature. Regardless of Warzone, or even Apex and how they play, they run so smooth. I want to boot this game up and have buttery smooth performance. I have a 9900K and a 3080… I should be hitting 120 fps with no stutter or hiccups.
so far this tech preview, the FPS doesn’t change from 90-100 FPS even on low settings or ultra settings, the game is choppy and stutters, and the input lag is awful. Why can we not run this in fullscreen mode? G sync will then work, performance increases, the whole bit. I submitting a report ticket but I doubt they will say anything about it. Sigh…

because microsoft for some reason has something against exclusive fullscreen, which comes at the cost of performance. they don’t actually care about performance for pc players. i dont’ know why all of the games published by microsoft have only borderless, but it’s unacceptable for an fps, especially one they want a competitive scene for. borderless can cause so much input lag on some people’s pc’s

Any chance you could maybe make a reddit post on r/Halo about doing this? Would help a lot of people out

You can if you want, but I don’t think it’s worthwhile to spread this around as it’s not 100% functional on my end.
Attempting to use the overlay crashes the game, can also prevent launch, and Gsync still isn’t actually active no matter what settings I try. And that’s been the main use of Special K for me, to get a Gsync Compatible display working in Borderless Fullscreen only games. It can improve the frame delivery and pacing, but that’s not good enough for me, and I don’t really want to keep troubleshooting. Still haven’t even played the darn thing.

I have 9900k and 3090, it hits 144 easily but I get so many micro stutters cause I cant to fullscreen… kinda stupid that you cant set to exclusive fullscreen
