Halo Infinite needs Battle Royal to stay Relevant

Please don’t turn Halo into a Battle Royale game. There are aspects of BR that would work in Halo, but that doesn’t mean Halo should go chasing other games. We haven’t had a classic Halo game in ages. We do know that Halo 3 was the height of Halo’s popularity. What happened after? Reach. What happened after that? Halo 4. Then Halo 5. None of the games after Halo 3 have been as successful as the first three games, nor offered a true, traditional Halo experience. Makes you wonder if Halo’s popularity wouldn’t have dwindled if Halo Reach had stuck to Halo’s roots. We’ve seen numerous examples of how chasing other games like Cod has not resulted in a more successful Halo game, so 343 should stop trying. There is no indication that continuing on with abilities and such is going to help the Halo brand, but there is a strong indication that going back to traditional halo might. The Master Chief Collection has made it abundantly clear that traditional halo is still widely popular.

Strictly speaking, they don’t.

Would I like an offshoot mode say 64 v 64 with me hauling -Yoink- in a pelican around a massive open map dropping people off? Hell yeh I would, but really that’s like asking for a Halo Total Conversion Mod of Battlefield 4.

If anything I just want developers to open up their games and game engines to enable the community to extend the longevity of their titles… Unfortunately, this would stop their revenue wagon.

Good idea. I spent countless hours playing “duck hunt” and infection in Halo 3 custom games because the community made incredible maps and changed the modes up a little bit. If forge could be extended to create larger scenarios and different animations then a BR game could work if the community wanted it.

BR is dying out by the time that halo infinite comes around BR will just be another game mode in a sea of game modes. I would rather 343 focus on something more productive like making a better story or making a credits system work or literally anything other than a BR.

I would love to see halo with a battle royal mode… I would love to see it meshed with the halo world. It would be cool if there were little camps with grunts and elites positioned throughout the map, so not only do you have to worry about other players, but being discovered and attacked by the covenant as well.

I agree with the OP that Halo does not need a BR mode to stay relevant. However, I don’t think a BR mode for Halo is a bad idea, and like you, I would love to see Halo with a BR mode. I thought PUBG was ok, but not great on Xbox One, Fortnite / Fortfight is fun when you get a rare gun v gun encounter, I think building boxes to hide in ruins it imo.

I did not buy a CoD game since Black Ops, but I bought Black Ops 4 after trying Blackout, it’s the best Battle Royale on the market imo. I think Treyarch have a done an exceptional job with it, they used parts of old maps and zombies in clever ways, but it does need another map or two imo. I play it and think about Halo not getting a BR mode, it’s a shame and I hope 343i have a change of heart.

A well made Halo BR mode could be exceptional with the assets that 343i have.

I don’t think battle royal would work with Spartans anyway because they have rechargeable energy shields for health and all the battle royal games have a health bar and need you the player to find med gear and heal yourself. So 343 would have to change everything about the way our health works, the guns in the game work and how they effect players, the layout of maps in halo would need to change and a thousand other tiny things that by the time 343 was done why call it halo and not some other si fi FPS game? So my opinion is halo is already unique it just needs to make itself standout again with what it has. Arena needs GREAT maps and gameplay, WZ needs to be improved greatly and if 343 figure out how to do that I think it would rival battle royal as a game mode, forge is fantastic but can be made better like with forgeable AI and firefight could be the best PvE game mode around especially (shameless insert ) if we got flood horde survival mode with CE shotgun but that’s just my opinion.

They’re not making a battle royale mode. Most of the community does not want a battle royale mode. If you want to play battle royale, go play PUBG, Fortnite, Black Ops 4, or play Minecraft Hunger Games. Halo does not need a battle royale mode to be popular.

How many followers does halofollower have? And how many actually voted? The no and I’m not sure option are higher then the yes.And lastly halofollower is not a great source of halo info and imo shouldn’t even be taken seriously

None of this really matters, though. That poll has over 10,000 votes, which means that it probably forms a reasonable representation of what people who follow HaloFollower think. Your opinion on HaloFollower really has no relevance for the validity of the poll results.

The only real question here is whether followers of HaloFollower are a good representation of Halo fans as a whole. Since the results are so drasstically different from Brian’s poll, at least one of these two polls has a bias, but it’s not possible to know which one.

Stupid idea. Go play fortnite or pubg if you want battle royal.

Based on his content I dont take much of what he says seriously and I question anyone who goes to him for halo info/speculation.

Halo defined itself as an innovative game early on. To be innovative is by definition not following trends but by making them. Leave BR in PuBG or Fortnite

And yet Treyarch have made an excellent Battle Royale for CoD 4 ? They did follow trends by making a BR mode, but they did innovate as they made changes to an established game mode. Innovation means making changes to new and established trends. I don’t see why Halo cannot do the same.

Or CoD Blackout, which is where me and my friends are playing. The idea of a Halo BR mode may be stupid to you, but there are fans that want to see it happen, and yes, we’ll go elsewhere if we need to. I keep hearing it’s a stupid idea, or we don’t want it in Halo, or BR is dying. It’s not going anywhere anytime soon, it has a massive following, and it’s far from dying.

Infact, the trend has been growing for longer than some may think. Battle Royale, is not just a game mode fad that appeared from nowhere, it’s has been gathering momentum and growing for quite some time, and I don’t see it slowing down anytime soon.

I don’t care to play BR games. That’s why I dont buy them.

If 343 wants to sink their time and money developing BR then that’s their business.

But if the event in the new Halo game is BR crap, then I wont buy it.

343 tried new fancy garbage before in Halo 4 and it sucked fat balls.

It’s no surpise that Halo 5 was a much better multiplayer game than Halo 4. They returned back to balanced arena matches and included current gen movement.

I’m just here to say that contributing to an oversaturated market is the absolute worst way of selling your product. Sprint, ADS, microtransactions, always-online DRM, absolutely none of these things contributed to making Halo remain relevant as the series has only gotten less and less popular since these things started being added.

Halo doesn’t need a Battle Royale mode the same way it didn’t need dubstep in the Halo 4 UNSC weapons trailer. Doing something just because some crusty out-of-touch old guy in a suit thinks it’ll sell usually doesn’t end well.

EDIT: I almost feel bad about adding to your virtual evisceration, but I guess I was one of the nicer ones so whatever.

No it doesn’t. Battle Royale has only been a thing for the last 2 years, and it doesn’t mean it will continue to be the “norm” when Infinite launches, whenever that may be. Halo also has had several of the most basic elements of Battle Royale games since the beginning, primarily picking up specific weapons/equipment. No other game really continues to implement that in their normal multiplayer matches the same way Halo does .

Anyway, I would rather have a 32 v 32 or 64 v 64 game mode way before I would want Battle Royale.

Touché. I guess it’s not for me, but that’s not to say it won’t entertain others I guess. I was thinking they could just throw it in a stand alone game like Halo Wars or Spartan Assault/Strike was but I see where it makes sense, take the cod blackout model and innovate on top of it.

It will not have battle royale.
