No true at all. I’m an older fan than most (I’m in my fifties) and I would welcome a well made Halo Battle Royale. Fans will like and dislike regardless. I don’t know where some of you get these ideas about the older fans from, let alone state them as facts. Fact is, Battle Royale is a bit of a Marmite thing imo, you either like it or you don’t. Being an older fan has no relevance.
Not sure if I left my thoughts on this thread yet, but I’m just tired of seeing battle royale games running around like wildfire in the industry. It’s almost insane how many are out there - Fortnite, PUBG, Realm Royale, the newly-released Apex Legends, and the recently announced Tetris 99 - and unless they’re made exceptionally well, some things are best left to their original formula.
A battle royale mode isn’t necessary for Halo. It won’t completely drive me away from playing it or future Halo games, but it’ll be a huge turnoff for me if it happens to include battle royale. I just hope it doesn’t hop onto the bandwagon.
Halo has a lot of potential for a BR game mode with all the different weapons in the sandbox that was introduced with Halo 5’s req system. There would need to be some tweaking but I think a squad-based BR similar to APEX might not be such a bad thing to add on. It’s just a hard thing to do because I don’t want to split the player base any more than it already is.
I just want the core multiplayer to be really REALLY good, with a lot of content, game modes, and solid maps on release day before there is any thought of adding a BR.

And I’m in my early teens, this shows how wide the diversity in the halo base is, we all have very different ideas, and I grew up with Halo, starting with CE, my brother in law was in the esports for halo 4. And I have loved every bit about halo, Halo is Halo, and it sets trends, it redefines genres, and it could do that for BR, but I do agree, I think it should release either as standalone or 2 years after release ( yes I know BR will not be the trend probably) but Halo could be ground breaking for BR, and BR DOES MEAN only massive FFA. Tetris Battle Royale has proven that ( drops Mike)
It also has the potential to be a built in featured playlist, that could reach a wider audience of people. It depends what you want Infinite to be. Halo has the potential to be the next huge game to blow up and be a sensation that the masses flock to and has huge commercial success.
Currently you have Ranked Arena, Social, Warzone, and Customs for game types. Obviously Arena, social and customs are a given, Warzone was Halo 5’s attempt to build a new featured game type. Do you think it was a success? Personally I think you scrap warzone and choose a new direction to go and create a new featured gametype.
Battle Royale is one way you could go. Or something new. I’m not advocating for or against Battle Royale but it does have potential if you go all in on it and do it right.
Personally I hate battle royal and think it is a dull and repetitive game mode but I do agree that in order to sap the playerbases and generate income for halo 6 a BR would help. I also think treating it as it’s it’s own playlist would be a good idea. I think the key think here though is not to fall into the dull boring BR game pit that all of the current BR have stumbled into. keep most of your standard multiplayer features maybe decrease the motion sensor range and give the player one life and boom you have a serious competitor. The most important thing to do however is to set a halo BR aside from the generic BR experience out there on the market. Give it it’s own rank rewards and incentive to play. It is important that this game mode has a non monetised reward system so new halo players believe that they get a way better Fortnite that has not got a monetised progression. Please 343 don’t do a black ops 4 and make a unique BR that does things the halo way without a halo pass. A halo pass would ruin BR because it is just rubish, overdone and know one will play it because its basically paid Fortnite with more pay for progression system. Do a titanfall 2 cosmetic for BR or keep REQs or just make the best thing ever: reach customisation. However if you do want to make extra money then add a way to buy credits that way you can earn or buy cosmetics but it’s not random. Improve on halo 5. Don’t do a black ops 4 and make a unique BR that is what will help this game succeed.
If you want some great tips check out the act man’s video on halo 6 BR.

> No it doesn’t. Hitscan snipers and gunships don’t work in BR. Halo needs Scarab Invasion, not BR. If you want a BR mode, go into Forge and delete all of the assets.

This is what 343 doesn’t get. They need to stop using their mainline titles as guinea pigs for new/trendy ideas, and instead make more spin-offs. A multiplayer-only Halo focused around BR would easily sell. As far as player retention goes, that really depends on how solid the gameplay is.

> Halo Infinite needs Battle Royal mode to stay relevant & retain multiplayer player count. BR is not a fade, it will be one of expected mode to successful FPS going forward, even Call of Duty & Battlefield are implementing their own version of BR. Fortnite, as worldwide sensation is becoming one of first FPS they played for lot of audience, not to mention PUBG. That audience will eventually look for other similar games, CoD & BF is doing just that. If Halo does not have BR, they loss the opportunity to bring part of that huge & growing audience, which will be hard to ignore. Halo has a great opportunity to bring futuristic BR mode which no AAA game currently offers.
> One of main problems I see in Halo today is that it is held back by huge baggage of nostalgia, those modes that no longer is relevant & trying to appeal to older generation that no longer plays the game. Grief ball & addition of jet pack is prime example of this. Grief ball which community demanded to be added, which no one plays anyway & jetpack & dash that players hated, which turned out to be great addition to the game. If the game tries to appeal to the old & ignore the upcoming players, it will ultimately fail to capture enough audience to stay relevant.

> The flaw in your argument is that Fortnite and PubG are dedicated BR games while Halo’s version would just be a gamemode. We don’t know if more people are going to buy COD or BF games because of the BR mode or if the same amount of people will buy it and having a BR mode is just a bonus. To go back to my first comment, putting something in your game because it’s “what’s expected” isn’t a guarantee that more people will buy your game.

> Aside from completely disagreeing about Chief, what the hell are you talking about? The last 3 Halo games have been modern gameplay mechanics and people wanting old gameplay have barely gotten a bone thrown at them with a more classic playlist every once in awhile. If you’re referring to 4v4 etc, there’s some truth to that, but 343 has implemented new gametypes (extraction, dominion, regicide etc). If anything, 343 have been catering too much to the fans wanting modern mechanics and gameplay.
you totally right menn, this nano hyper almost get’s me mad hahaha, if halo is going to look like cod, it is done for! halo is not comparable to the other games, halo 5 tryed to, in nanohype’s words ‘‘stay relevant’’ well… FAIL. if you want it to be like some other game, just play the other game right? just let halo be halo please

Blame Warzone. I wouldn’t play BR but I’d rather have Warzone scrapped for BR.

I"m OK with the Idea of Warzone, Especially Warzone Firefight, but the Spawning does need tweaking.

Agreed I’ve been spawn killed so many times on warzone, and have done it to others many more, and I know that can take away the fun.

I agree, but I now have the opinion it would be better as a stand alone free to play. Also, if it’s a new and fresh take on Battle Royale it could bring more players to Halo in general. Titanfall 2 had fallen of the Xbox top 50 most played here in Europe. However since Apex Legends dropped it’s population has gone up again and it is back in the top 50. Coincidence ? Maybe, but Apex Legends is a slick game and I think some players will be curious about Titanfall 2, and others will have been reminded how good it is.
