While I hate the whole Battle Royale game type I can see how a BR would fit into Halo multiplayer.
First, you couldn’t use Spartans with regenerating shields it would have to be ODST’s.
Second, instead of a storm closing in it could be a flood outbreak closing in.
There is plenty of weapon variety to suit all needs of combat from ranged to CQB, and if you place it on a Halo ring there is the scope to have multiple maps. As I find the lack of maps a huge problem with BR games, COD and Fortnite especially.
But does Halo multiplayer need a BR mode to survive, no it doesn’t, I’d rather see a larger scale invasion game type than a BR game type.

The issue though is that DICE is working hard to get the Battle Royale Mode in for their timeline, so they’re dedicating significant resources to developing Firestorm instead of fixing map exploits, adding team rebalancing, and rebalancing weapons and kits because the assault class in that game is so laughably god-tier you genuinely feel hampered by not picking that class.
All the while BF5 sold poorly, received slightly above average reviews, and now has issues retaining the player base because DICE is taking too long to add new maps and other content while restricting Tides of War unlocks to infuriating challenges, that glitch fairly often and if you don’t unlock the item in a week you never know when you’ll have a chance to unlock it again.
You are right that they shot themselves in the foot for flat out telling customers to not buy the game and questioning their intelligence levels. For someone in charge of trying to make a game succeed you’d think they’d have had the intelligence to not do that.
If they want to add it later down the line or outsource it to another studio, fine by me, but do not waste resources on BR for Halo Infinite, especially given how much Halo 4 and 5 shattered the community. Hell, I got Halo Wars 2 and still haven’t forgotten how poorly 343 handled the Awakening the Nightmare DLC debacle.

I think you guys are getting it all wrong. Is Battle Royale a sub-genre? Or is it a specific game type? What was wrong with Halo in 4 & 5 was the copying of other franchises in mechanics, game modes, etc. What you guys are implying is that a Halo BR would need to have HP like fortnite or pubg, you’re saying they need to drop outta the sky and scavenge for weapons, that there needs to be a storm closing in. What makes it Halo means is re-define the genre, as it did back in the glory days. Keep shields, have Spartans fight each other( even elites or possibly promethean soldiers) maybe have flood spread from different points of the map, maybe spawn somewhere random and be locked there, not being able to do anything for a few seconds to get familiar with your surroundings, maybe spawn with an AR or BR(for the pun) What I’m saying here is a BR doesn’t specifically have to be just like fortnite, or pubg. just as warzone/ galactic assault(star wars battlefront) have to be exactly that. Now after making these points a Halo BR would be awesome, but it doesn’t have to be just like fortnite, it could be Halo.

Exactly, have parts of the map underground, like the Library, there could be areas where you have Brutes, the Flood and others, where risk is rewarded with better gear. They could have Covenant ships randomly glassing parts of the map making an ending less predictable instead of a circle or storm. There’s so much that they could do to make it have it’s own identity. Everyone just assumes it will be a PUBG or Fortfight. Respawn just released it’s own game called Apex Legends, Halo could do it too, I live in hope.

> Halo Infinite needs Battle Royal mode to stay relevant & retain multiplayer player count. BR is not a fade, it will be one of expected mode to successful FPS going forward, even Call of Duty & Battlefield are implementing their own version of BR. Fortnite, as worldwide sensation is becoming one of first FPS they played for lot of audience, not to mention PUBG. That audience will eventually look for other similar games, CoD & BF is doing just that. If Halo does not have BR, they loss the opportunity to bring part of that huge & growing audience, which will be hard to ignore. Halo has a great opportunity to bring futuristic BR mode which no AAA game currently offers.
> One of main problems I see in Halo today is that it is held back by huge baggage of nostalgia, those modes that no longer is relevant & trying to appeal to older generation that no longer plays the game. Grief ball & addition of jet pack is prime example of this. Grief ball which community demanded to be added, which no one plays anyway & jetpack & dash that players hated, which turned out to be great addition to the game. If the game tries to appeal to the old & ignore the upcoming players, it will ultimately fail to capture enough audience to stay relevant.

You know, we could actually start a new thread coming up with ideas for a Halo BR, because there are some pretty great ones in the community, you could even have an overshield as an idea. Maybe I’ll do it, something like “Ideas for a completely new innovative HALO BR” so the community won’t be confused and automatically start hating lol.

I would keep it in this thread or the wishlist thread. Too many duplicate threads will get locked. Up to you though.

For sure. Apex Legends by Respawn proves that Battle Royale games can be fresh and have their own identity. I think Halo could have the best Battle Royale of all. FFA is another game mode that can be used imo. Imagine a map twice the size of Valhalla / Ragnarok with 40 or more Spartans and two respawns each, or 20 teams of two etc. Everyone thinks PUBG or Fortfight when you say Battle Royale, there are loads of ideas that could make a unique Halo Battle Royale.

Be that as it may, I just don’t see 343 putting any resources towards BR when they just put so much effort into their own unique large-scale multiplayer gamemode (warzone).
I used to (Kinda still do) believe that Halo shouldn’t be involved in Battle Royale, But after Apex Legends came out, If 343i wants to put a battle royale mode in a fututre game, Make it a larger FFA/Team Slayer with a Gigantic map…That’s all, no building, and bring back Ordinance drops from Halo 4 if they want, just don’t make it terrible.

Apart fom what I’ve seen posted in these forums I don’t think there’s a single player on my friends list that liked Warzone and it’s predatory rng req system. 343i have stated there will be no paid loot boxes in Halo Infinite, they’re already changing things and we don’t even know if Warzone is returning. I live in hope of a Halo Battle Royale in the future. Halo Infinite does not need it to be relevant but there are fans that want it, and a stand alone version like Apex Legends gives players the option to ignore or embrace it.

Was Warzone Unique? No, Star wars battlefront has had Supremacy, and galactic assault, which is basically just like warzone and the req system. Besides, When 343 has the time, maybe a year after launch, they’ll think of maybe doing something with Battle Royale.

I never said the req system was perfect, because it’s not, but Warzone was a big selling point of Halo 5 and a lot of people enjoyed it. If anything they’ll continue to tweak it into Infinite but I would be very surprised if they get rid of a gamemode they spent so much time on developing and marketing.

You DO know that SW Battlefront was released a week after H5G right?
Anyways, Warzone might never been unique to the gaming industry, but it was something unique in Halo matchmaking history.
Just like Spartan Ops, such completely new modes will always have some quirks which need some tweaking.
The thing is, I’d rather have them improve upon Warzone instead of simply ditching it altogether like SpOps.
IMO it would be more productive to take build upon something they made some experience with instead of making something completely new yet another time.
The game would already feel unoriginal if 343 puts in a Battle Royal mode. It’s being used so much, and it’s to the point where I am sick of it. 343 should instead focus on other game types, such as classic ones like firefight, invasion, infection, grifball, etc. They should focus on classic Halo game types and maybe develop some new ones as well, but they shouldn’t take a game type that seems to be over-used these past couple of years. If I see Battle Royal in Infinite, it will prove, at least to me, that 343 is becoming desperate.
