Halo infinite needs a high stakes gamemode

Breakout in halo 5 was one of my favorite modes in video games because it accomplished something that even the sweatiest of arena matches couldn’t match.

It was the adrenaline, the heart pounding, and you knowing that the entire game rests on your shoulders when it’s a 4v1.

There was just something about the 4v1 situation that got me the most excited out of anything in halo 5. I remember one time I killed the whole team and the very last guy I caught him with a ground pound while I was absolute. The entire party and enemy in the after game lobby went crazy screaming because it was an unexpected clutch play.

Halo infinite needs a mode like that. Sure I can simply ask for breakout back but I don’t mind something new that brings this kind of excitement. Something that has high stakes. Something that makes you feel like your on a razor wire and the slightest mistake costs the whole game.

It needs actual casual modes before anything else

Infection and grifball should be a priority but apparently something else is coming instead. The new mode might be good sure. But it might not be causal. Who knows. And we need an action sack playlist with swords, and rocket slayers etc.

The upcoming content update will probably have Attrition and KOTH (maybe something else too)
But I hope Infection comes before May, I don’t think I can wait another 3 months

Going by what happened last time in halo 5 I don’t think infection is coming for a while. I definitely believe they are waiting for forge to release it because what made infection fun was the maps that were built for them. I don’t see 343 making dev maps for infection

Well, a lot of the maps have sections blocked off that are fully detailed (some guy glitched or hacked his way into them), I think these will be unlocked for Infection. But that’s just me.

You might be right because in infection you need dead end rooms

@DeadCassette you are totally right, mate! Thankyou for reminding me of Breakout - I was trying to think of it the other week!

Funnily enough, I thought that Attrition was Breakout and didn’t realise until loading into my first game :stuck_out_tongue:

I enjoyed Attrition a ton, and now that I think about it, it was because of the similarities to Breakout.

Just googled to try find my favourite map: Crossfire! The aesthetic was -Yoink!- brilliant. It felt like you were in a proper futuristic competitive arena. Bring back Breakout on Crossfire! (:

I used to play game battles on crossfire. Pretty fun.

And yeah I loved the futuristic arena vibes. Felt like a sport match

Yeah you’re spot on, that’s what I meant!

When your team was down to just you, and they had a couple people hunting you down… Heart pounding, trying to pull off an amazing clutch - felt like you could just imagine yourself in the centre of a giant stadium with fans watching (:

Breakout is a trash playlist/gametype. For those of you that want good single life modes see CSGO or Valorant or maybe even CoD. I would argue that Halo has never had a good single life mode in its history.

Elimination is coming, btw

I hate elimination with a passion. A very deep passion because I saw it get created/was apart of the testing. It’s just a glorified slayer mode.

They ruined the breakout playlist with the shotgun breakout and elimination. The breakout playlist hasn’t been the same since and it lost players because of it.

CSGO and valroant are trash tho. Halo gameplay will always be better but I still want a one life gamemode or at least a mode with high stakes

1 life modes are interesting. Only gears of war 1 execution has held my attention. the main reason being, it was so tactical and the battles werent over in a flash if you played smart. it was so challenging to kill someone. if halo, wants a 1 life mode its going to have to have weapons with projectiles and have a down but not out mechanic where you have to go up close to the enemy to execute them.

i think a mangler 1 life gamemode woulld be really good. No weapons on the map besides main power weapons such as rockets or sniper.

ok lol

you lose legitimacy saying things like this. Nothing is more high stakes than a couple of missed shots costing you millions of dollars potentially.

Well I believe that if they ever do decide to put some real effort into a good single life mode, that it would look a lot like Gears of War 4/5 Escalation. So it would be 4v4 Strongholds, and you get to spawn in power weapons in certain select spots across the map. Escalation was such an awesome idea, shame it was wasted on a boring series (competitively speaking)

never got to play that. is it still in gears 5?

yeah Escalation (not the map, the mode) is in Gears 5. It got some flak because lots of people will argue that Escalation was superior in Gears of War 4 compared to Gears 5, but regardless the concept for that mode was genius. I am surprised that tons of games haven’t copied it already honestly lol.

The reason its such a good mode is that meta never becomes stale and every match can (theoretically) play differently. In terms of a single life mode I think it would be the most intelligent of modes they could do. Does any of that mean it would be fun to play/watch casually? idk but what I do know is that Halo absolutely could make a single life gamemode work very very well.
