Halo Infinite: my feedback, issues and suggestions

Just as pretty much everyone else I’m having a blast with the Halo Infinite multiplayer, but it still has glaring issues that I believe should be looked up on while 343 still has the buffer time that is this “beta” stage of the game.

The Progression System

I’ll start this out by preaching to the choir. The progression system is bad, very bad. Having the entire progression tied to the challenges not only needlessly slows it down but also forces the player to intentionally handicap themselves in the case of a challenge that requires kills with a certain weapon or to not have fun if the challenge requires them to play a game mode they don’t enjoy.

If there aren’t any changes to the current progression system me, and many others, may not even buy the following season passes. Hell, we might even still be completing this first one by the time the next one arrives.

Suggestion: Implement a per-match XP gain system with bonuses based on performance while keeping the weekly challenges for the weekly item and XP bonuses.

Matchmaking
Not being able to select what game mode to matchmake to is a trend that needs to die. MCC had such an amazing system where the player could simply toggle what modes they want to matchmake to and it simply worked. It was great.

And to see that entire system devolve into a system where the player can only choose if they want to play Social 4v4, Social BTB or Ranked 4v4 is both frustrating and sad.

Suggestion: Use the matchmaking system present in MCC.

Starting Customization
There is none, and that’s the issue. All one can do to their armor is pick one among a very small selection of coatings and an emblem that is not visible during gameplay.

Suggestion: Add a second helmet and shoulder pads options possible to unlock early into the game. Maybe tie them to completing the tutorial and weapon drills as a way to reward new players who put in the effort to learn the game.

The Store
The existence of a store was inevitable. It’s a free to play game, of course it was going to have a premium currency store. The real issue with the store are the inflated prices. 20 dollars for the Zvezda armor pack? That’s double the price of the Battle Pass. And the Enigma helmet pack is worth the same as the Pass? Those prices are way too high, and the items don’t justify them.

Me and other have raised that complaint among ourselves and have decided that those packs are not worth buying in their current price.

Suggestion: Halve those prices, they are way too pricy in their current state.

Customization options

The current customization system is very underwhelming with armor permutations being tied to cores when they shouldn’t be, especially when the MARK V(B) and MARK VI cores are nearly identical. And just to rub salt to the wound, people found out that, due to a bug in the waypoint app, we can indeed equip armor independently from core.

Suggestion: Untie armor permutations from cores and let us equip any piece on any core.

That’s my list of issues and suggestions to make the Infinite multiplayer experience better all around. 343 is currently at a stage where they are open to feedback and I believe we should give it both as fans and consumers. So, either use this very thread to discuss your issues or even post new threads on the forums. The time to make a difference is now.

Overwatch does the same with picking a random “Mode” on competitive for you. The intention behind of this make the player get used to all the modes, otherwise 99% of the playerbase will be only choosing “Free for all or assassin whatever is called here”. Nobody will be playing capture flag or the other modes
