Halo Infinite, my 2 cents.

Hi, I just wanted to put out these mostly negative notes I made from playing the tech preview so they can be seen. To be honest I don’t have a huge amount of hope for the game just by going off of some of the stuff they’ve been doing with MCC. Still, it’s probably the best Halo 343 have made gameplay wise. Most of the negatives to me are from conforming to modern trends, (but maybe that’s just me and my friends with this opinion?). I think Halo could be a stand out amongst games holding true to a old style progression system that genuinely feels rewarding and be very popular for it. But that’s a system without people constantly spending money on battle passes. Free to play systems suck -Yoink-. What do you think of modern progression systems vs Reach and prior games? Anyway here are my notes:

Sprint animation is too shaky, but not too bad because you can turn down shake effects in general.

Weapons seem to despawn if dropped on death by someone and not picked up quickly.

Frag grenades bounce too much.

Guns look very dirty for some reason. Guns would be kept clean.

Should be able to turn off AI talking in game. Like you can Spartan chatter.

Overall I’m not a fan of the team highlighting system. But at least bring back actual red and blue team in high lighting and scoreboard. If you’re blue team, the enemy team should be highlighted red but you’re never actually red team. Don’t know why you would get rid of this staple.

Feels like you die to quickly, not enough health or shield maybe?

Team mate deaths X isn’t pronounced enough, it should be red. Also seems to be no tags above players heads?

End game and pre game team stance cutscenes are terrible, corny and slow.

“steaktacular” is a terrible medal. It isn’t sportsman like at all.

Scoreboard is terrible, bring back Halo reach scoreboard and medal display system not just stats but also team colour definition. The transparent overlay when selecting a individual player’s detailed stats/medal display looks bad and messy being transparent.
Kills, deaths, and assists should be priority displayed stats in a slayer game. Power weapon kills, damage dealt, and accuracy should be secondary stats. Also Players aren’t stacked in most kills order, it seems to be random.

I think having armour “rarities” is stupid, a gimmick, and B grade. It makes no sense. Everyone will tell what’s “rarer” by the cost or level to obtain. No need to add a fake value. It’ll just make a bunch of people wear the “rarest” stuff instead of thinking for themselves and wearing what they think looks good.

Not obtaining xp from completing a match to level up battle pass sucks in MCC and will suck in Infinite too. You get people playing for selfish reasons to complete challenges instead of people playing to actually complete the match objectives.

Bring back map and game type veto in match making! I seems as though there is actually less variety without it. It feels like we play the same few maps over and over.

Agreed hugely on most points, especially about the team highlights, the useless and annoying AI voices, and the progression.

Still not sure why any part of this system makes sense to 343, rather than the Reach progression system. I always wanted to play more, working my way up to the better armors. I’ll admit though, as much as I loved that multiplayer progression system, I never would have gone half as far through it as I did if my custom armor didn’t show up in the campaign too. I doubt they’ll do this for Infinite, even though it would make perfect sense for each person to be able to customize Chief’s armor, so I doubt I’ll have much interest in the progression either way.

Pretty much all things I agree with but are easily fixable.

The game can’t be exactly like the others, we need some change.

I will say that not having Co-op and Forge at launch is the worst of it all.

As for Steaktacular, teammate death X’s, dirty guns, AI talking, etc. Thats just nit picking.

Like 343 have said, this is a live game and this game will be changing and evolving and I hope that most of the things you have said will get fixed.

Well gauging the locations of my teammate’s death markers and call out their tag locations is a huge factor to the way I play. The AI talking is annoying and distracting, it should have an option to be turn off. And to me, having a medal like steaktacular is a bit like getting teabagged at the end of a match, it’s not a nice thing. But I guess if the losing team don’t know it was a steaktacular it’s not so bad. Dirty guns IS nit picking, but they literally look like they’ve been rolled in wet dirt and given a quick wipe down.

Steaktacular was in Halo since Halo if I’m right, maybe even earlier. It just shows supremacy of the enemy team which can be of course a slap into your face or like a medal saying that you and your team annihilated the enemy into the dust.

Yes, AI or in general - my opinion - Spartans talking is annoying too, not a friend of it.

Mostly agree with the rest, especially with the “rarity of armor”.
Every person got a different taste of things, never understand why they came with that in Halo 5.
But since -Yoink!- and 343 want to make a cash-cow out of Halo it’s one good idea of how to melk the cow. Also interesting to know, that a team was hired by 343 - if I’m right - that is looking on microtransactions to get the most money out of the player.

LOL honest question; is there actually anything you didn’t dislike?
Just rattling down all the stuff you don’t like without explaining why and not offering any propositions
on how to improve isn’t constructive at all and one could assume you’re simply ranting.

I’m not trying to answer for the OP, but I didnt get the feeling he was ranting at all.
And as for providing alternatives, it’s obvious what they are.
Example- grenades bounce too much… make them bounce less.
I’m out

Lost me at grenades bounce to much the bouncier the better IMO more combinations and ways you can use them. Compared to H5 I found the grenades to be less bouncy ngl

See I actually found they had less usability because they bounce to much, but we obviously use them differently. It’ll be something I’ll get used too.

Well there you go, I’ve never noticed in past Halo games so it obviously won’t be an issue. Must’ve just been because I was only versing bots. Have passed games actually pronounced it after a match?
