Halo Infinite multiplayer is gonna be good and bad

Let me explain myself.
The free to play multiplayers are the representation of this: you play a part of the multiplayer of this games (Modern warfare), if you want to see the full experience you have to buy this game, because we like money.

Most of the free 2 play multiplayers have some microtransactions, no matter if it is cosmetic or pay 2 win. In the last news about Halo Infinite post they told us that the Halo Infinite multiplayer would had no microtransactions involved, but they don´t specified a lot. If they don´t put microtransactions to the game, that would be a big loss to the company now adays (if we were in like the 2000s, the microtransactions would be wierd).

They never talked about the battle pass, the last games made by 343 industries had had a battle pass, which are brought in 2 ways: you pay for unlock this pass, and you have to grind a lot of xp to finish it; or you can give us your money in order to you to complete this once and for all. And the other way is: you don´t pay for anything of the battle pass, but you have to give your soul in order to finish this, the time of play and popularity always benefits a videogame company.

Here´s something in common: all of these are cosmetic things that. 343 has told us that there would be a much higher customization than in Halo Reach, but, at what cost? May be the most cool things of the customization would be blocked because you need to buy a battle pass.
But, if you want to have this (save my words), you will need to buy the game that includes you the battle pass. That would be very awfull, a bad way to remove money from the player.

Before you kill me on the comments, I want to say that I love Halo, I´m very excited about Halo Infinite and I would love to see it have a success, man; no one on this community wants that Halo to be death. But I wish that 343 listen´s the community and that please, they dont put cosmetic microtransactions, just that could ruin a lot the greatness of the gameplay.

But what do you think about this? Should 343 put microtransactions? Or they should allow a open character customization for all?

They didn’t quite say no Mircotransactions. They said no LOOT BOXES. There is a difference.

We’ll probably game real money purchases for
Weapons skins, armour graphics, effects etc.

This does mean that there won’t be anything like a REQ pack where what you get is random.
Instead you’ll know what you’re paying for. If I want to spend £5 on a certain thing I know I’m getting that specific item.

Hope that clarifies it for you

And providing it’s not pay to win… or important stuff is hidden behind a paywall forever… I’m all for microtransactions to fund the game.

I may even be guilty of the occasional splutter myself…

Agreed, no micro transactions for infinite!

It it’s free to play, there’s going to be microtransactions. May as well not even debate that. How they’re implemented is probably the biggest concern. Not having predatory, casino-esque loot boxes makes me believe that it’s headed in the right direction.

There is no way in hell it’s going to be pay to win. I think 343 is ambitious not crazy.

Also let’s hope if we get to pick what we want to buy, that it’s not like $100 for a slightly lighter shade of blue. Or something we should get for free but cost $50.

yes, something like the MCC battle pass, but better done.

I can get behind some armour being available as an optional purchase with real money though some armour sets should only be available through gameplay. For example, in Halo 5, Achilles requires you to complete commendations as well as belong to a Spartan Company. This encourages community interaction. If you could buy any armour you want with microtransactions, there’s almost no point having them available as challenges etc.

F2P games also tend to be extremely grindy to encourage purchases with real world money. I feel this would be detrimental to the armour unlock system. They said/implied the armour customisation will be Reach-like but it will be detrimental if it is insanely monetised, not to mention receive huge backlash.

At the very least, I think there should be something for players who bought the game or got it through gamepass vs F2P players. For instance, you earn credits or something at a higher (read: normal) rate or all armour is available to you through gameplay.

the MP being Free-to-play is such a GREAT idea imo. Let’s face it, the Halo community has completely died off the last 10 years. I personally love Halo and will play EVERY future Halo game. I love them all. But the groundbreaking world that Halo literally.invented… has moved on and been improved upon. And there’s just SOOOOOO many similar first-person-shooters out there. IMO Halo is the best and most interesting… but most casual FPS gamers don’t care. They just play what’s new, what’s popular, and especially what’s AVAILABLE (ie. via Game Pass and now even better FTP).

Microtransactions in Halo 5 were COMPLETELY fine with me. Did it feel as good as earning your own armor? NO! But was it better than paying ACTUAL microtransaction for every armor? OF EFFING COURSE!!!

My preference in change to Halo 5’s system would be something like let’s say there’s 50 common helmets, you would have to earn/unlock 80% of those (any of those) before you start unlocking uncommon helmets. So for a while you are unlocking both common and uncommon helmets. Once you’ve unlocked 80% of uncommon helmets (even if you still have common helmets left), then you unlock the ACCESS to start unlocking rare helmets - or whatever groupings they call them.

Does that make sense?

To me, this would be a better way to implement players who EARN those legendary helmets because they’ve either paid a $#!7LOAD of req packs or played a whole lot! Rather than me playing 200 games and having 2 legendary helmets, and someone could play for 2 days and unlock more than me. I get how some people feel that’s unfair - i personally never really cared. But I do get it.

I’m also fine with the MCC battle pass, I think that’s pretty solid foundation - I just think most of the ‘rewards’ kind of suck/are boring. I would totally be fine with a PAID battle pass for INFINITE if the rewards were really good, like Fortnite. They perfected the addictive/collecting/hoarding. And the fortnite battle pass was so good because if you played a good amount, you could EARN the next season battle pass and not have to pay again. I bought Season 4 in fortnite, and played season 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and X - and never paid again. I earned each one after. This is such a great business model. It psychologically makes people feel like the didn’t pay for the pass you could feel OK spending a little every once in a while, ya know?

However, I loooooooooooove that the MCC battle pass isn’t TIME-RESTRICTIVE. I’m still earning stuff in MCC Season 1. I complete challenges and unlock a couple things in S2, and then in S1 as well. THIS is a superior format. But I wouldn’t mind PAYING $10 every 3-5 months, if the rewards are BANGING!

The req packs in Halo 5 are so great because yes you can pay for them, but you don’t HAVE to. Is it hard and probably impossible, YES! But it IS possible lol. I never bought req packs and earned TOOOONNNS of gold req packs over the years.

But like most things that were superior in Halo… halo fans are never happy and complain complain complain. SO I’m really unsure what 343 will do, because I can see what is the BEST option/best natural progression… but it goes against what supposed “fans” have complained complained complained about.

Go Halo!

It would be nice if they adopted the Fortnite model where purchasing and completing a battlepass gives you enough to purchase the next one. And while not having lootboxes is a really good thing, I hope they don’t make the regular MTX crazy expensive like with Destiny 2.

There should be armor locked behind achievement though. Remember the hype for Recon helmet in halo 3. I was so proud to earn it and it displayed my skill in campaing. I’m all fine with micro trasaction as cosmetics provided by the pass in MCC. Weapons skins, vehicules skins, nameplates. They can add some armors or even color schemes that would be fine but armor customization is so important that it should display skill and not wallet size.
