First thing I’d like to say is, I really am enjoying playing the game. It feels good and smooth, glad to be back into a new Halo experience. That being said, I definitely would like to see some changes outside of the straight up gameplay.
1. The battle pass XP progression is really lackluster and feels like I am rolling the dice to level it. I have played close to a dozen Big Team Battle matches and haven’t gotten stockpile once, which is a challenge I need to complete to level up the battle pass. The way the battle pass XP is earned needs a rework. Fishing for the game to match me up in the lobbies and types of games I need to complete challenges feels really bad. This could be greatly alleviated by rewarding me for doing well in matches and earning medals and such. There is currently no reward for doing good in a game ( earning medals, playing the objective, having the most medals on my team, having the best K/D spread, etc…). Rewarding the player with battle pass XP exclusively through the challenge system has to go.
2. One of your biggest talking points leading up to this release was player expression. I feel this has been a huge miss. No ability to mix and match accessories outside of their specific armor cores leaves out a huge chunk of player expression through their Spartan. In some previous Halo’s you could mix and match whatever you like with whatever you like. This regression is very disappointing. If the first armor core you start off with has accessories that get unlocked, they are locked to that specific armor core. I personally prefer the second armor core much better and would like to be able to use the new accessory I just spent hours playing the game to unlock through the battle pass, but I can’t because it is only usable on the first armor core. So all the progression I just made in completing your very specific challenges feels totally worthless. Infinite really should have cross-core customization.
User WaluigiSilver64 made a post that speaks on several of these topics and more in much better words than I, but I really wanted to drive some of this home to 343 because I would really like to see some of these changes.
