Apologies in advance for the big read ahead, but i think it’s a really important issue that needs properly and urgently addressing by 343 as the gameplay alone (brilliant that it is) cannot keep this game afloat in my opinion. I think there is still an issue with Challenges on multiplayer, even after today’s update. I do not mind there being challenges for extra XP towards the Battle Pass, however I do think they should be treated as secondary things and not the primary way of levelling up. Challenges in this game are having a negative impact on games for me personally, where Challenges to “get 3 kills with a Mangler” for example are overtaking the gameplay. I am finding that in certain objective based games like CTF etc people are not playing the objective because they are focused on trying to find a Mangler to get 3 kills with just to fulfill their challenge. I have witnessed games where people have blatantly ignored what the aim of the game is just to serve their own challenge and in a way I cannot blame them as just levelling up from gameplay and kills/medals in game etc is no longer a thing. I do think that weapon specific Challenges should not exist in the game as they actively encourage people to not focus on the main objective of a game like CTF. Instead you just have a bunch of people fighting over the 1 Mangler that spawns on the map to try and kill people with it to fulfill their Challenges. I think at the very most weapon specific Challenges should at least be only applicable to slayer game modes where the primary objective is to actually kill other players, or a game mode like Fiesta where everyone spawns each time with random weapons (as there’s a chance they will spawn with the weapon they need kills with). I believe this move would then have more of a positive impact on objective based games and people actually doing what needs to be done rather than the game forcing them away from that, and would also make the weapon specific Challenges more of a passive thing then when tied to only those specific game modes for example. I wish 343 would either get rid of those challenges or even tie weapon specific ones to modes where the MO is to get kills to win or where you are provided with random assortment of weapons each time you spawn. The reason I think this should be done is because in my opinion the Challenges should really be more of a passive thing that is just earnt rom playing the game as you normally would, as opposed to them being the way they are now where they actually change/alter/effect specific game modes and how the game should be played in terms of objective. I’m not saying it happens in every game and to everyone but I’m sure I’m not the only one who has felt no enjoyment playing when I have been in games where I have no team actually trying to get the flag or bring back power cores to the base because they are too busy doing their Challenges which take over the main objective of the game, and they shouldn’t influence matches and how you play to this degree. They need changing urgently because when people don’t feel good from playing the game, that’s when they will simply stop playing it and move on. The gameplay is fantastic too so it’s such a shame that this system takes away from that and removes the enjoyment element in a lot of matches for me personally (and I’m sure others too). I also think that there shouldnt be challenges to “complete/win” specific game types either, as again, this interferes with how some people play the game. It’s actively forcing people to potentially play game modes they don’t like or get enjoyment from just to fulfill a challenge. Just let people play the game their way and play what game modes they want to and leave the challenges to just be a passive thing from playing and having a good time. I think having the new challenges for in game score is a good move, however some are then tied to in game score for specific game types only and you keep making peoplle play the game how you want them to play it, which isn’t always fun for everyone. What are people’s thoughts on this, do a lot of others have this issue in games and agree that Challenges should be more of a passive/secondary thing to the core gameplay objectives in multiplayer modes?
