I am aware about the ranked input based match making but i wonder if a mnk player were to face off with a controller player in infinite. Who would u think would win?

At the highest level it would be MnK. Among most players it won’t matter outside of 2 or 3 precision weapons.
I think a lot of Pro’s will still use and dominate MnK with Controllers. Some of these guys have been Playing Halo with controllers for nearly two decades and are absolute freaks. For the average player, yes most of the time MnK will be an advantage.

It depends. If the 2 players are at the same skill level, then both have a 50% chance to win, but MnK players do have an advantage most of the time.

We can’t base this off MCC though. Halo Infinite controls significantly easier on MnK. I think a lot of Halo 5 pros will have an interesting transition with the bullet magnetism being so nerfed.
they shouldn’t be playing each other in any playlist ranked or social unless they’re in a mixed party.

i dont think mnk is easy at all nor is it easier. Its just controller players r nerfed now. If anything mnk is harder to pick up and get good at.
If the map has a sniper rifle, KBM will dominate. The reduced controller aim assist and quicker TTK (less tracking required) also favors KBM.

yeah both at a pro level.

yeah i agree with this but generally most of mnk players r trash. Its rare to find those top level players.

Both Valid points, time will tell.
I do believe it would still be incredibly competitive at the highest level regardless of input used. Halo Pros have been playing a lot longer on Controller regardless of Halo Title, with MnK only fairly recently introduced to Halo. I still think currently the best of the best would still win with controller but as MnK becomes more of a staple input device with Infinite you would see that reversed in time.
I think It would be cool to see some exhibition matches in E-Sports (Halo PC vs Classic) with Controller only Teams vs PC. I have no doubt that PC will likely dominate Controller players in the future, but currently … I believe Halo Pro’s have been using controllers too long and are too good with this input to be beaten by PC as yet.

I’ve been trying to get my head around this and similar posts.
If I’m a Plat 4 player… I will be matched with other players that are ranked as Plat 4 (population willing). And the match should be fiercely contested.
Does it matter who was using what input method? The bottom line is everyone is ranked to the appropriate level (and hopefully performs accordingly).
We can wax lyrically about who would be better or worse with the other input method… but it’s kind of a moot point isn’t it?
And I’m assuming that 343 will adjust the paramaters (aim assist / bullet magnetism) so both populations have similar rank distributions - so all is even.
The only time it probably makes a difference is at the pro / tournament level. There isn’t really any skill based matchmaking at this level. One team could basically have the top four players in the world. If there really is a difference between the two input methods it could be exploited there.

as a PC player hard disagree. it’s kinda just anatomically easier to aim with your wrist ligaments than your thumb. it doesn’t take long to get used to once you find a comfortable sensitivity.

It’s much easier to be average on PC than console. The learning curve is much easier especially with aiming. I play on both. It took me 1 month to hang with average to above average players while previously never using MnK for shooters prior.

I still would stand by mnk being harder. Ive played on both and i can 100% say that its really hard to get at the high levels with mnk much less get average. U go up against decent players u will get pooped on. Ive personally found that 50+ hours working on mnk aim is the sweet spot to perform well in game. This excludes playing the game itself.

Strangely enough, I feel halo 5 has drastically improved my aim. Going back to older halos or even other shooters, I found my aim has been much better.
I think even though the bullet magnetism is high, halo 5 has the fastest moving targets. Also, the thrusters made for many aim adjustments in a single firefight and made most player movements less predictable.
I think they will transition well.
