Halo Infinite Midnight Launch

Anybody else going to their local midnight launch event if there is one? I know Infinite is coming to game pass, but it’s a tradition for me. I’ve been to the midnight event for every Halo since ODST and this will be the first time I’m taking my boy.

anybody got any pre-game traditions?

Unfortunately there are no such things as midnight launches in my area anymore, not since our only video game store closed down. Where I work we normally get display stands when new stuff is released so I am hoping I can cosplay and do a bit of advertising (and get to keep the stand as my payment, lol).

Yeah there ain’t no midnight releases around me anymore, with games coming out at 11am for me and that you can pre load games there just isn’t any midnight releases anymore and it sucks because I used to look forward to them.

Yeah it’s a different time with COVID and all that preventing the midnight releases and with the preloading. I miss the festivity of it all. At my local GameStop there was always this one family that camped outside the store all day for the Halo launches, even though nobody started gathering there until 9pm or so. At the Reach launch, they had a console and TV set up in the back of their minivan and they had some sort of demo for it playing. I’m hoping they’ll be there for Infinite if we are able to do the launch

I’ll definitely be there at Midnight. I’ve been there for all my favorite games even if I got work in the morning. I usually sit and watch some vids to pass the time.

I’ve never gone to a midnight release personally. I remember picking up Halo: Reach after school on launch day from my local gamestop as a kid though. Good times.

Man I remember halo 3 midnight release pick up!! It was awesome!. We played halo 2 outside while we was waiting lmao! GameStop was so chill they even let hook up the Xbox so we could play H2 on live haha!

Oof if it launches at midnight over in America it’ll launch around 6 in the morning here. I don’t know about that xD

Honestly nah, times have moved on. I’d rather be able to just play the game at midnight immediately with my friends in the party chat.

Waiting out in the cold when it’s dark and I’m tired isn’t something I really enjoy. Then got to travel home & install the disk. Then download a day one update. It’ll take forever haha.

I can be in the comfort of my own home and play the game the second it’s available, that‘s much more appealing to me.

I understand the energy and hype around a launch event/party but they’re not what they used to be about 10 years ago.

I’m going to play on GamePass however buy a physical special edition if they exist. I’m not doing another launch though. The last launch I went to was Skyrim.

All the stores near me do 9pm launches now, no more midnight unfortunately.

Honestly for the best.

I’ve been to a lot of midnight launches dating back to halo 2 in front of a game stop. They had a few Xboxes set up and we had a mini halo tournament starting at 10. Top players got some halo swag and moved up in line. The last one I went to was for halo 4. They didn’t really do much for that one, no tournament, no fun games to play, just a bunch of guys talking -Yoink- and -Yoinking!- till midnight. I always get the legendary edition just because I’m a huge halo nerd and really enjoy the extra stuff you get with it. This year I don’t think I’m going to go if they have one, but with Covid I highly doubt they will. Me and my oldest son played through all of the halo games except for 5 since it didn’t have split screen. Hoping infinite has split screen so we can play this one together.

Yeah here in australia, I worked for EB games for 7 years (2013-2020) had consistent midnight launchs for the first seven of those years, sporatic midnight launchs for big games like COD in the 8th year and then in 2019 didn’t have a single midnight launch, transistioned to eary opens instead
We didn’t even do a midnight launch for the release of the Xbox series S or X or the PS5

I used to love love midnight launches for Halo Games.

My first was for Halo 2, I couldn’t drive yet so my mother took me. The mall the GameStop was at was being renovated at the time so there was a massive line outside. Plus, we got their late so we had to stand outside in line in the freezing cold November 9th night for several hours. While in line a guy doing a college statistics project surveyed me.

My next midnight launch was Halo 3. While in line, a group of kids drove by in a pickup truck, the Halo them cranked up. The guy in the bed of the truck picked up a 2X4 and pretended it was a Warthog turret lol.

My final midnight launch was Halo Reach. The best part was my best friend and Halo coop parter came with me. And we were first in line!

Those were my fond memories of midnight launches. But alas, they are no more. Now I’ll be hopefully preloaded and ready to go so I can play it right at midnight on release day. Midnight launches will still exist. But now we can skip the line.

Its a shame no midnight game launches, I used to go to my local game store with friends queue up very early and once the game was in hand. We used complete the campaign within 24hours in legendary difficulty. Gamepass and digital editions means no more queuing at the game store but clocking the halo infinite campaign in legendary will still be on. Once I know the official release dates I will book few days off, lol. Can’t wait!

Halo is awsome

The last of a dieing breed not many midnight release for me.
