Halo Infinite Merrit Based Armour Unlock?

So one of my favourite online customisations features throughout multiple Halo games was the armour customisation, specifically, the challenge of unlocking pieces of armour through specific challenges, not as in a “weekly challenge”, Challenge as in doing something very specific that may be particularly difficult or requires dedication and good performance to achieve.

I’d Love for this idea to make it into Halo infinite. Rare, hard to achieve armour pieces or colour variants that can only be unlocked through achieving difficult/notable tasks, similar to hayabusa/katana in halo 3 or recon armour in halo 3:ODST.

An important part of halo has always been the challenge to earn rare, special armour that sets you apart from the rest of the player base, and creatues a communal effort to compete to see who can earn that ‘super legendary’ armour set. but so far in Infinite armour just feels, unimportant, like it just doesnt feel special to see someone wearing a certain armour set, becuase you know they either just grinded the battlepass alot regaurdless of performance, or just paid for it. granted its still early days and perhaps 343 already fully intends to impliment something like this in the future once the initial community feedback from launch has been adressed.

BUT YEA. Merrit based armour very based, plz gib 343 <3

I would love a true merit based unlock system in some capacity to be reintroduced.

Unfortunately we really haven’t seen any really decent accessible ones since your Halo 3 examples. The ones involving 4, 5 and even MCC have all been relatively grindy (save for a few notable examples in MCC).

Grinds aren’t bad ways of implementing merit based unlocks, but it would be cool to see some more classic approaches as well.
