The gameplay looked ok i guess, but what was with all the blocks? We have been getting screen shots for the last few years without any blocks at all, and now the landscape is like 80% blocks. That outdoor elevator scene was shocking! Some people are saying it’s the foundation of the ring, but lets get real, there were hardly any trees as well and many of them were floating. We are still a few months out, but I don’t see the blocks changing. I guess the new xbox isn’t that powerful?
remember Halo 3s Last level and the shapes that were exploding all around you
Now you get to see what those pieces would’ve made in a partly destroyed/nearly finished Halo???
That part for me makes sense.
Are we always going to be stuck on the shattered section of the ring? Maybe for a while, but it looks like as the map extends to the left, we’ll be seeing more and more trees, mountains, and awesome forerunner structures. But you’re right about the metal pillars. Though I did think that they contrasted well with the nature in some cases. But they need to be rendered differently, with more detail or something, because more often than not, they look like the color samples at a paint store.

The opposite interpretation for me. Halo 3 showed you a detailed substructure, whereas Infinite is getting lazy and pretending it’s all one solid chunk of metal.

Ya but what was the point of the last few halo slip space trailers? I wasn’t ready for a minecraft look. Do you think all the halo rings look like this?
Halo Minecraft evolved. Seriously, even if the blocks are justified by the lore, they didnt come across as looking good. That would never pass for me and my friends, we would never create something with that many blocks on screen. It just does not look visually appealing, at all. Not pleasing to the eye, unless of course, you want Halo Minecraft…

Ya it looked beyond bad. I can see why this demo kept getting delayed for months and months.

Please do not draw that comparison. The back half of that final level was a true masterpiece. Probably the best finale to a game/trilogy I’ve ever experienced.
The Infinite demo set looks like something a chronic Minecraft player would produce in a Forge session.

if a Halo didn’t have any terrain variants added to them yes I would imagine you’d see a lot of squares/hexagonal shapes.
that aside its been a ascetic in almost all halo games.

with that kind of mind set for the Demo i don’t think your gonna enjoy Halo infinite at all.

Apologies if I came off as overly snarky in my last post.
Prior to the demo earlier this week, I’ve been more excited about the future of Halo over the past few months than I have at any point from the last 5+ years. I am hoping for the best with the final product. I care a lot about the franchise and truly want it to succeed by having some reputable amount of relevance in the competitive FPS category going forward. I think there are a lot of (older) contributors here that can be characterized in a similar way. I am keeping an open mind, but I also think plenty of people would agree that there a lot more red flags and concerns showcased by that demo relative to positive highlights.

no thats fine all i wanted to point out yes its a first impressions, yes its a Demo but also remember ways on how it looks to the past to bring itself forward. In a way that is a positive for example they’ve gone the route of giving a open world like Halo ODST or reusing/retcon the Halo shell structure from 3. like most people on here they are hyped but all I’d suggest is to temper expectations a bit so the overall draw of it is positive spin rather than negative unless the begin to cut features.

343 has some weird and unhealthy obsession with Hexagons, those things are all over the place

3d student here, hexagonal structures are some of the easiest things to produce in terms of effort and time, also hexagons don´t compromise graphic perfomance that much, but if you start to put one anywhere the whole scene seems boring and uninspired.
