Ske7ch and Unyshek have asked what new medals people would people like to see in Halo: Infinite and I thought that it would be useful to make a thread where we can add our new medal ideas and suggestions.
I’ve included below the 3 guidelines for medal creation, as stated by 343’s MP Designer Max Grossman:
-A Medal needs to be an explicit action that a player can perform; rather than something that can “just happen.” Players should have a clear idea of what it is that they did to earn the Medal.
-Second, a Medal needs to promote good behavior and should never reinforce a negative action.
-Lastly, a Medal has to have a killer name.
Alright, I got some more! Couldn’t find this thread awhile back for some reason. Ok here they are.
360 No Scope - Get a no scope kill after doing a 360 (this might be hard to track though) - You Just Got Sarged - Get a kill from the passenger seat of a Warthog or Mongoose - Bouncing Betty - Get a gernade kill by shooting a gernade laying on the ground (this name could use some work, but just an FYI for those who don’t know, a gernade on the ground will blow up if you shoot it) - Chaney Mania - Get a shotgun kill (this has got to make a return lol! I would do anything for this to come back!) - Splinters - Get a kill with a splinter gernade right when it blows up (there’s a medal for sticking somebody, why not a splinter gernade medal for killing someone instantly after it blows up)I’m out of ideas for right now, I’ll come back with more another day!
Id honestly just like them to go back the old medal designs, they were a lot more unique and easy to tell apart prior to Halo 4. I actually think Halo 4/5 gives you way too many medals, even if you don’t really do anything special.

There is a medal for this in the game, it is called a Snipeltaneous. I’ve gotten a few of them, but there pretty rare.
Less is more when it comes to medals, I reckon.
I appreciate the effort to award ‘support’ roles like driving but there are far too many in the recent games. They don’t feel as special when you’re earning 5-6 for relatively average plays.
The generic ‘kill’ medals or even weapon specific kill medals could be removed, keeping medals that are harder to achieve like ‘Hail Mary’ or ‘Snapshot’. It’d also be nice if they actually looked like medals, a la Reach, but that’s just design preference.

Right, how could I forget… oh yeah I’ve never gotten one that’s probably how lol
i want less medals. getting a medal for everything just makes them not being special anymore. yes, i know, there are still special medals for special kills, but they would still be more meaningful if there weren’t medals like just make a kill, or make a kill with a specific weapon…

The name of this medal would be blacked out or black out. So basically you killed someone in less than 4-5 seconds of them picking up overshields. I think it would be a rare feat. I’m still not that keen on the name so if you have any other suggestions let me know. Also here is a link to a clip that I captured to help you get a better understanding. Link
Reach had the best medal system. I love all of the various ‘spree’ medals it had (sniper, shotgun, sword, splatter, etc.) I also don’t mind some of the newer medals that have been added in 4 and 5, like the ‘noob combo’ medal. I honestly don’t think they need to really remove any medals either, as most of the time it is easy to tell what medals were actually good or took skill to obtain, especially with the medal ranking system in MCC and 5. I also find medals easier to quickly check for stats than having a ton of numbers in the after-action (assists, headshots, etc.)
One medal that must return: Killjoy. Why this was removed in 5 is beyond me.
Yoink was also cool, even if it was dang annoying to have happen to you, though people still do it anyway so might as well give them a medal haha

Nah, it’s really simple and easy to actually tell what took skill or not, especially with the medal ranks in MCC and 5. Its also much easier to check stats with medals. I like having most stats on one screen with icons attached to them in the after-action, rather than having a bunch of numbers in a spreadsheet (kills, headshots, assists, etc.)
Headhunter: Assassinate the leading enemy player - Predator: Assassinate a player who is using Active Camo - Saboteur: Hijack 5 vehicles without dying - Dogfighter: Destroy 3 enemy aircraft while flying one yourself - Airbender: Deflect an enemy projectile with a Gravity Hammer - Mindbender: Kill a player with a sniper ricochet - Grand Slam: Kill 2 or more players with a single Ground Pound
