Halo Infinite Mechanics

I’ve been playing Halo since day 1 and love it for the multiplayer! Regarding multiplayer mechanics Halo has always been a simple fast paced shooter that focused on team work, map control along with power ups/weapons. Halo 5 had a great game engine and could have been great but the people don’t know what they want and game designers can make a great game but not a great game type. if you will be playing around with the core mechanics remove all the shoulder charging, ground pounding, wall climbing and sprint. I feel the only mechanics that should be added would be mobility mechanics. I like the grapple and think that could be a lot of fun. Also enjoy the quick jet pack dash in any direction and maybe add a crouch slide jump and also a teleport!. what movement mechanics would other people like to see? And please give us a BattleRifle playlist!

I love the older halo’s and all that but halo 5 had some cool stuff but I don’t really like the ground pound and boost like you said but I think I can deal with the sprint in Infinite, but I don’t want boost and ground pound that was the thing I didn’t like about Halo 5.

I wouldn’t say halo in terms of older games were fast paced. In fact I find that older fans preferred the slower strategic pace. If you look at halo 3 it was definitely more around map control and if you found yourself in the wrong spot there was generally no getting out of it.

As much as some don’t like sprint I don’t think getting rid of it is the answer. 5s multiplayer was my favourite and I easily pumped ours into halo 1 and 2, especially 2. Thought 3 was rather clunky but reach was much better for my preference.

my fear is how much of a degree do we go back to old mechanics. Like, do we remove all extra movement and just keep to bare basic movement and jump? As much as it is nostalgic I do feel tired of the old gameplay. I know I’m a minority, I just want to feel fresh rather than copy and paste.

Just realised this isn’t the correct thread. There’s a bigger thread on this to talk about these things.
