Halo Infinite maps

In the bungie halo games, we had awesome maps and it felt more open. BTB had huge maps and made it more fun. When Halo Reach came out, maps have been starting to go downhill due to kill death timers and maps have been feeling more restricted. Reach still did have some awesome maps. Halo 4 didn’t have good maps and multiplayer was garbage. Halo 5 had decent maps but BTB maps were awful. Halo 5 had the best forge and designed any map we want to make. Only problem was that in H5, we didnt have it for 2 months due to a boring launch.

For Halo Infinite, we need more fun maps especially BTB:
No kill death timers, i liked the visible barriers like sandtrap turrets kill you and that’s just more fun and creative.
I love H5’s forge but should have beginning forge like H3 and have advanced forge like H5, so players can decide sice its quite hard to use H5’s forge.
Make the maps feel more open.
And finally, make a huge map for BTB.

100% agree that we need great BTB maps from the start. An essential playlist like that should be given love and care. Also would be nice not to have arbitrary out of bounds areas.

Hope BTB has better and bigger maps this time around. H5 BTB was a disappointment. Also please no forge only, it’s an eyesore and feels so cheap. You can tell BTB was not high on the priority list for H5.

Also, paths in maps just feel more linear, even Halo 5’s beta had better and awesome maps. Maps need to let players do what they want inside the map, like add fun stuff: explosive barrels like halo 3, control gate from high ground and these like that.

It’s funny, I get more excited when the CE remakes show up in Halo 5 than the H5 maps. And I noticed that I found them to be more entertaining as well. For instance, the portal politics only happen on those maps and can lead to some humorous encounters. Not that I hate the H5 original maps or anything, but they focus more on competitive play rather than what would be purely fun and I think that lends them a clinical feel.

Forge was so awesome in H5, i hope they add that in H6, it was like, players can do what they want and build.

Bungie’s maps were just overall better. 343 has yet to come even close to the maps Bungie made. They just don’t feel the same and mostly forgettable. And what they pulled with BTB in H5 is plain lazy and unforgivable. Save the forge maps for playlists down the line. We should be expecting all dev made maps at launch.

Considering the title has “Infinite” in it, the game not having expansive BTB maps would be disappointing.

I loved map design in Reach except when it came down to Forge maps. Every main map showcased the armor abilities in some areas. when it came down to 4 and its hybrid team of devs…I felt a lot of COD cqc vibes, the same thing with 5 as well though Forge has evolved greatly to compensate for the lackluster “free” maps (excluding warzone but even still Warzone could have been BTB maps in their own right.

Agreed, BTB was clearly an afterthought and gimped because Warzone was the cashcow. Man I really hope they break off the dependency from that. The req system ruined my favorite playlist (BTB) and Halo 5’s gameplay loop.

Also, BTB wasn’t in launch, warzone was full of microtransactions, my idea would be make maps more fun, more open and have fun stuff like in valanna was the thing in the base where it launches us in the middle of the map.

What are your ideas to make maps fun?

I’m really hoping the maps in Halo Infinite are genuine. When I say that I mean that each map actually has some kind of story to it, the details throughout each map make all the difference. When Bungie was in control, the content that came with each disc was so well thought and you could see and feel that they cared for what they were creating. Even with the DLC map packs that you could purchase were beautiful and fun. To me, the tunnels, the backroads, the quirky things that strayed from the beaten path that could even provide a strategy to the gameplay had so much power to it. For instance, opening up that one-way teleporter on Halo 2’s Relic. I’ve grown to really like Halo 5 and I absolutely see 343i’s potential when you look at maps like Overgrowth, Riptide, Tyrant, etc… but some the maps that get tossed into circulation are just plain boring to me and so repetitive. All the same colored forge building blocks are just lazy and uninspiring. It’s like eating boiled chicken with ketchup. I will say that the Team Doubles maps are awesome, and a fewer maps like Refuge, Echelon, Vestige, and Fissure are a breath of fresh air. I can only wish they keep a fresh rotation of Halo Infinite’s maps, unique in their own way, to show us they care.
PS. I know I sound like I’m a teenage girl crying about her boyfriend, but I think it’s the honest truth. There may be a reason why the number of players isn’t what it used to be. It just takes a little extra effort to show us that you care. Give us a reason to come back day after day and dump hours and hours of our lives into your content.

I’d love to have maps which would allow for a battlefield conquest like game mode. I’ve heard that 343 might be going back to more open worlds like in CE and some suggest they might even be going open world due to the new engines showcasing of the living and breathing environments, however i doubt this bit specifically. Would be awesome to have a map big enough where we can use pretty much any vehicle we wanted (such as pelicans/phantoms) without having to turn around every 5 seconds as to not go outside the boundaries. Faction vs Faction kinda stuff idk.

Also, the kill barriers in H3 in sandtrap, snowbound and sandbox.Foundry was a goodmap for custom games as well.

good map*

maybe my comment may seem trivial, but good lighting in the maps is essential. Often maps with lots of light (haven #### , forge islands (the cage, asylum) [reach], high ground ### , Sanctuary ## , are favored by dark maps like impact#### , abandon#### ,
Lockout ##

I want a map on the grunt homeworld filled with grunt memes. I think its important to have both competative maps and ones that are wacky and fun with weird features such as 0 gravity zones or moving parts. And yea btb really needs some good non forge maps this time around.

i like to see more large maps like in halo 4 to play with BTB playlist on then and not only on small maps like you see now in halo 5.
also less forge maps make by the forge comunnety and more developers versions off the maps.

I didn’t like halo 4’s maps but I liked exile and haven. I cant even remember halo 5’s maps as ui is messy.
