I can try testing controller soon. But doing it on moving targets is more difficult and subject to scrutiny. Plus, people will likely want to see it in slow motion or with frame by frame comparisons. And even if I figure how to do that, its hella more work lol.
Thatās quite interesting about the bullet magnetism. This is actually in line with my own anecdotes switching from M&K to controller. Bullet magnetism on BR feels much stronger on controller than it does on M&K. Crazy development.
If there is going to be a balance between inputs. It sure has to be bullet magnetism rather than aim assist
So I did another test. Iām sure there are plenty of holes you could poke in it because itās not entirely scientific or comprehensive. The first 3 tests are mouse only and the second 3 mix in mouse and controller. If thereās a significant difference in bullet mag between the two, I canāt see it.
Worth noting: Itās super difficult to purposefully miss shots but still land them close enough to test the bullet mag, especially on moving targets. Doing this fried my brain lmao. Maybe someone else would be better for this kind of thing.
Anyway, here it is:

Dude, I think you can use the first on the list in the weapon testing. The first three starts, the bots stand still.
My b, I thought someone suggested that its different in motion. I may be thinking of a different post on a different thread.
Thereās a detailed post in reddit about bullet magnetism.

Add the dot before com in the link.
Yea I read it. And I still donāt see a difference in bullet mag between the two. I literally switched back and forth between mouse and controller in the last 3 test range tries in my most recent video link. The first 3 were mouse only though.
I will say though that the bullet mag is much stronger for targets at a fair distance, which could partially explain why mouse is so difficult to use up close. Plus its already hard to track targets up close with a mouse anyway, at least without any aim assist.
All in all, I strongly feel that bullet mag values are identical between the inputs, but that still doesnāt mean theyāre balanced. Like I said earlier, the combination of aim assist and bullet mag on controller is really strong.
donāt try on test range cause yeah it has bullet mag for both input but in multiplayer itās only on controller
Even in bot matches? Cause Iād rather not try to run my own tests in a live matchā¦
Aim Assist doesnāt work on controller if the player is standing still, in order for sticky aim to work you HAVE to move along with the target, I think in previous Halos sticky aim would drag the reticle if a player walked passed you and you stood still, but I know for a fact that if you move passed a target without moving your reticle at all, it will glue itself to the target for awhile until you move a certain distance and then unstick, that is aim assist working as intendedā¦
go to a range and try it, you will see what I meanā¦
Yea, Iām aware. I was trying to specially test for bullet mag differences between inputs. But I donāt think the player has to be physically moving, just dragging the reticle a bit. Iāve done tests on aim assist before:

Bullet magnetism should not be affected by movement at all as it is a red reticle function that should always be on, if it does not work then itās either bugged or changed⦠I have used both control schemes extensively in weapon drills and live games, but I cannot really properly tell you if there is a difference or notā¦
It seems thereās no difference in bullet mag when enemies move, but it seems there is at different ranges.
This is only logical, distant target is smaller and the crosshair and projectile size doesnāt change⦠itās possible tho that Bullet Magnetism has an effective range for all weapons to prevent a precision meta to form again in BTB type maps where at that point it would just be better to stay at spawn and snipe people with BRs, Commandos, etcā¦
Mouse 1000% has bullet magnetism on it. I watch it work every single time I play the game. Itās pretty much the only reason to use the BR/Commandoās scope on Mouse.
If I press the funny scope button their hitbox become big.
The only question I have is does it actually have a higher value on Controller than it does on Mouse. Which seems very unlikely.
Based on test range, no. Though people are claiming controller gets more bullet mag in live games
.
In order to prove that claim youād need a decent amount of footage using both inputs with frame by frame analysis. Until someone does that however, I find the claim hard to believe.
its not the input, its the RR change that screws us. Even using controller on PC has this issue of no RR
i play with all my deadzones at 0. what are you talking about
people keep saying āif btb had BRs we would just snipe the whole timeā are the same people who started with reach.
BR crossmap fights did not happen
