Everyone experiencing performance issues, make sure to submit tickets as ArtiShay said, they are more likely to look into issues that more people report!
Considering this is supposed to be the “playable minimum requirements” with the RX 570, and that these Polaris GPUs are in line with the performance of an Xbox One X, we should be getting 1080p/60+ fps.
There are optimization issues affecting everyone (RTX 3090s falling below 60fps native 1080p), but they are much worse on pre-RDNA2 AMD GPUs, I’m consistently falling below 30fps even at 1024x768 with dynamic resolution on at the lowest possible settings on a RX 580 8GB (and yes I do have the latest optional Halo Infinite driver, 21.12.1) in the open world, which somehow a 2x worse Pascal based 1050 ti is getting 60fps, indicating driver or game optimizations issue somewhere.
I get 1080p/60 in multiplayer, and I can even push 4k/30 on high settings in multiplayer as well as the first 2 missions, but as soon as the open world section of Zeta Halo renders, my performance just tanks and no graphics settings help at all.
The “Async Compute” bug is also not fully fixed as listed in the campaign release notes, while it doesn’t crash in multiplayer anymore, it does still crash the GPU drivers on Polaris GPUs in campaign mode as I’ve found.
Here’s some help for people viewing this thread and want to submit a ticket!
Go to this link (make sure you’re signed in) https://support.halowaypoint.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
2: Choose Halo Infinite Campaign - Bug Report on the drop down menu
3: For the title I put “Poorly optimised for rx580” You can use the same title or modify it too something similar or a different gpu etc.
Choose your operating system on the next drop down.
“Visual Issue”
“Always”
In this box I put something around the lines of: “Start third mission and walk out to the open world”
pick “2 - The game is technically playable, but I don’t have fun when this issue occurs (ex: severe performance issues, no audio)”
Explain the issue. I went over the contrast between the multiplayer and first 2 missions to the performance I was getting in the open world. I also included information about close Nvidia equivalents getting much better performance.
Include a dxdiag file, they will ask for it when they reply if you do not.
Hope this help and I really hope this gets fixed soon, because I did not pay for this pc to play halo on my xbox one s…
Hopefully someone at 343 Industries notices all these threads, with some optimization patches, I can see Halo Infinite’s campaign being very fun to play, but until then it’s just not all that enjoyable playing at sub-30fps
This has no output, the 343 support, he sent me to download the latest amd drivers, I told them about my rx590 gpu and they sent me to download a driver that increases the performance of the new series, what attention they give me.
On the other hand amd, send me to talk to 343. They don’t want to work.
Just got the game for christmas and I have the exact same issue. Multiplayer works perfectly and the campaign is great up until after the first boss, then it becomes practically unplayable. I summited a ticket but as of now theres no reply. Hopefully they fix this soon since I was really having fun with what little of the campaign I got to play.
I just got told that its been sent to the devs and that I’ll be contacted if its fixes through an update or if they want me to try something, so hopefully this is being worked on. Also as others have already said submitting a ticket really helps let them know how many people are experiencing this problem!
Unfortunately not had the greatest luck here so far, got the same response on RX 580 (after they closed my initial ticket saying it was fixed with the armor crate hotfix for campaign), I was told to update to the latest drivers - when in the ticket I specifically chose and stated I was already on the latest driver, I did get a second response saying that the issues was logged and they are investigating again though.
A small update from my last post - I have now tried the newest available AMD drivers (22.1.1) - and unfortunately, those perform even worse on Halo Infinite than the previous version did on Polaris GPUs, lost about 5fps and back to crashing every 5 minutes no matter what settings, it’s now back to playable at horrible framerates after rolling back to 21.12.1.
Amd and 343 are behaving very badly with users. Only those who buy new gpu’s benefit. I understand that they are old gpu, but that it yields less than a 1050 is inexcusable.
tried every option every reso nothing worked,as long the world opens framerate goes wild under 30 and keep having random crashes, multiplayer was solid 60 wtf
(ryzen 5/rx 580 8gb/16ram)
played cyberpunk/oddyesy/forza with no problem its not horsepower issue its just badly optimised
Indeed it is badly optimized (also same GPU and same here for me, FH5 runs well over 5x better even on high settings), it’s not properly utilizing most GPUs as of right now, if you check your power consumption and GPU temperatures, you’ll likely find it’s quite low for running the GPU at full load.
Have you uninstalled the high res texture packs?
I have a 5950x & 3080ti & have to uninstall them if I want decent steady frames over 100 @1440p in single player, game also crashes less without them installed.
It’d maybe make sense to uninstall the high res textures if the issue was that we are maxing out VRAM or something. but no the game uses around 5 gb. I just tried running the game without the hi-res textures and my FPS actually DROPPED.
