Halo Infinite is Seriously Lacking Social Engagement

Hello there Spartans. I’ve been having a blast playing Infinite, just like everyone else. However, when I sunsetted the Halo 3 servers last month, it became clear to me immediately what Infinite is missing and why it “feels” so undeniably empty. What’s really frustrating is that we’ve figured all of these things out well over a decade ago, but 343 just decided… FORGET THAT STUFF.

  1. No proxy or lobby chat
  2. There’s no ability to vote on maps
  3. There’s no post-game lobby to admire everyone’s Nameplates and achievements.
  4. Speaking of nameplates, ^^ the MCC did a much better job of boasting accomplishments. I mean, there’s no bloody nameplate for beating the Infinite Campaign on Legendary, or LASO? Are you kidding me?
  5. You can’t “party up” with a team that you like and played very well with. Partying up back in the 360 days was responsible for me making A LOT of friends that I otherwise would have.

Again, I’m having a blast, but the social engagement side is completely lacking . It’s particularly frustrating because, again, we figured this stuff out back in 2007 so I have ZERO idea why we are taking steps backwards. I have ZERO idea why we are taking away innovations smart people already designed in the past. I’ll always periodically play this game on occasion, but for the reasons I have stated above, Infinite cannot be my definitive game. It’s almost embarrassing how alone I feel when I play it it’s unreal.

I find it pretty disappointing that features such as pre & post-game lobbies aren’t in the game, I always found it quite fun to skim through the players during Halo 3/Reach & seeing their armor & stats

it truly feels like you’re isolated from everybody with how many social features are absent and I don’t have much faith in 343 that these features & mechanics will make a return.

I hear ya bud, “feeling isolated” is exactly how I feel. Like there’s no point to accruing battle achievements at all.

Ya id group up mainly with people in the ingame lobby and now im alone most of the time lol like I met the best people threw the in-game lobby and yess there would be the occasion really toxic person but kicking their -Yoink!- in the game and hearing the sad defeated battle cry they spew once destroyed was mmmm pure salty justice:kissing_closed_eyes::ok_hand::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I feel the exact same. The majority of my friends list came from Halo lobbies. I does feel like you’re playing alone, even with 23 other people in the game. I really hope they change this in the future. Lobbies work for team building, and any toxic person found could be fixed with an easily accessible mute button. Here’s to hoping!
