> LOL!! Fractured community? You mean the hipsters who hated online co op when Halo 5 did it are now mad that this doesn’t have it at launch? You think that Forge is a game breaking omission? The facts, no matter what 343 does, this toxic, ridiculous “fan” base will hate it. I am confident that both forge is used by less than 10% of the players, and co-op is used for skulls, for the achievement. Very few players use co op as the main mode of play.

No not at all.
I mean the clear schism of 343i and bungie lore fanboys.
The modern vs classic gameplay debate that was finally subsiding.
The art style argument.
And now we just have a new topic to be made divisive.
Can you try not to reduce the discourse to mockery?
Things like “LOL!!” And “hipsters” come across as dismissive and play into the “toxic” nature you are claiming to have a moral high ground on.
Considering many have people have outrighted stated coop is important to their Halo experience is reason enough to consider the issue with some maturity.
10% is not a negligible portion of a community especially one as large as halo’s that exceeds some countries.
10% of the vote is pretty important.
As for forge.
You seems to equate it to user base not the impact that user base has on the over community at large.
As it is instrumental in defining both customs and competitive halo.
It should also be noted how useful it is for newer players getting into halo.
Many of the people unhappy about this lack of features at launch vocally supported 343i and infinite before and after the flight. This should make clear that for many if not most this is a legitimate issue rather than some misplaced hate towards 343i as a company.
When you refer to hipsters do you include a large portion of established content creators and game reviewers whose opinion, regardless of your own, will influence how many people percieve this product at launch?
Because that isn’t something to ignore.
It will have a tangible impact on the launch and how the game evolves post.
As for the very few people use argument.
It was enough that a GDC presentation actively acknowledged it was mishandled in 5 and the studio made a commitment to it being in all future mainline titles, the same presentation that claimed year long flights would be the modus operandi going forward.
A clear example of the studio failing to keep its promises.
This will obviously be recieved poorly by a fan base who had put faith in 343i and supported them through the longest active development cycle of any game post CE.

Out of your list state of decay is like the only non AAA game listed, and let’s be real, you can expect more issues out of crowd funded games than you should a triple A studio backed by a publisher (and undead labs only got their publisher after state of decay 2 released). Indie devs and AA studios simply have less funding, manpower and resources at their disposal, so yeah, that’s why I’ll speak up for SoD2, everything else is fair game because you have the big funding publishers like EA, Microsoft, Ubisoft, CD Projekt.

> Are you brain dead? All those campaigns were complete, they were not unfinished and they were released by the studios cause they met the targets on what they wanted to make. Now if the fans hated the campaigns, then that is another matter, but they were finished, with a lot of content, about 30 hours worth of gameplay. Now Halo has always been known for a short campaign, and that’s okay, it’s the story that counts, not the amount of content.

when did buggy as hell games count as finished campaigns? Cyberpunk could have ps2 graphics on launch week, andromeda’s animations were all kind of messed up with guns pointing backwards, AI getting stuck, crabby leg running animations, halo Mcc was a crash fest that didn’t even get fixed for the first 3 years and I won’t ever forget that one. Bugs are taken into consideration for people with any standards because that does indeed effect one’s enjoyment of a campaign :woman_shrugging:The op has a pretty good list of big offenders to the industry with poor development standards being passed through.

Just to point out a few things on your list of games-
Cyberpunk is nothing like Infinite, 343i doesn’t seem to be trying to oversell features or showing off the typical “fake E3 build” (their E3 build is literally why it was delayed)
SoD2 didn’t have any major issues if I recall. Co-op was delayed but overall was a pretty polished game.
RDR2 is a big stretch. Rockstar gave us a story worthy of the full price of the game. Hell I haven’t even touched the MP and i bet many others haven’t either. I spent 80 hours in that campaign just having fun as Arthur and I think it’s one of the best games to come out in the last 10 years.

Remember that Infinite is free, most of us have gamepass too so the campaign is a few pennies a year… If what they release at launch is stable, and enjoyable then yes release the game.

The only thing we can go off of now is what Staten stated in the most recent dev update.
They decided to not ship with campaign co-op and Forge because it wasn’t in a ready state according to their views. Meaning it doesn’t work like they want, is still buggy, or isn’t a smooth experience. Their goal is to accomplish this within 3-6 months after the holidays so there has to be a pretty solid foundation that is almost ready to go.
This would mean that according to these same standards the solo campaign and multiplayer portion is working as intended and they see no reason not to release these portions of the game.

There will likely be hitches on launch day that even the extended flighting couldn’t resolve, but I don’t think we’ll get another Halo MCC launch. The intended experience is there according to the team.

Once I saw CyberPunk 2077 I know you were arguing in bad faith. CyberPunk 2077 is a beast of its own in regards to why it was delayed. The Tech Preview proved that this game is in a playable state…and that is on an old build of the game…

Indeed. My intention was to purposely care about other’s complaints and perspectives. Personally was only gonna play this campaign solo, unlike previous years when I desired to play through most other halos in co-op. Thinking from a bigger perspective, it was seen that every single halo consumer deserved better than, favorite modes being unready on release.

Even the individuals that didn’t want another delay, and only wanted to play solo campaign and free multiplayer; deserved a finished and polished new halo game. The unfortunate truth is that people willing walked to the slaughter house, and purchased a full price ($59.99) game, that only offers solo campaign with typical length of time. I’ve had Xbox game pass for 3 months, and still haven’t downloaded any aspect of halo infinite. There was an intention to wait until people got co-op and forge in their possession…

343 delayed co-op & forge again, after infinite’s release. Anyone could have seen their lies continuing. Still interested in playing the campaign, there is much that is liked about the game. But still gonna take a stand, and not play until it’s a complete product.

No game should be exempted. Doesn’t matter if it’s AA game development.

I agree although the resources needed to bug squash and polish is far from small and thats just the reality of the medium.

Why indie studios for the most part scope a project so heavily to cit out as much as they can.
Sadly it like many professions is predicated on killing ones babies.
