Halo Infinite is horribly optimized

have you tried setting a min framerate? that adds dynamic res scaling I believe

Agreed. I found that the game is heavy cpu bound. I have a gtx1080 and even on ultra graphics it won’t load my gpu up. But it still won’t quite do 60 fps at 1440p. Any other game it will do 70 fps on ultra. But my i9-9900k is completely maxed out almost all the time. This is the first game I’ve had that loads all cores and threads like this on the cpu. I don’t see a reason for that.

I feel you. Im sure that will be optimized on the December 8th launch, For now try lowering your settings a bit and lower your resolution scaling to 1080, you wont lose quality and your FPS and performance will go up. Im at 144 fps for infinite. They do need to add that Fullscreen support though and more optimization on PC.

My experience is completely different from yours. Gsync is working perfectly fine for me (GPU is an rtx 3070 and monitor is gigabyte m27q.

No tearing, no noticeable input delay, gameplay feels really smooth.

But I guess the main point is the issue isn’t borderless fullscreen vs exclusive fullscreen.

There definitely is more optimization work 343 needs to do and I’m sure, will do…
However, most competitive games (shooters or otherwise) are almost always CPU intensive, instead of GPU heavy. It allows them to run at crazy high framerates with not much GPU power.

I’ve noticed that sometimes the game runs great, sometimes it runs horribly. Like last night I was getting 60fps on BTB Deadlock, but right this minute I’m getting 33 with 0 changes…

Don’t you need an Nvidia driver to use Gsync? I dont belive Nvidia has released a driver for Halo Infinite just yet.

No you do not - it’s a display technology. Maybe you are thinking of DLSS (but that is game specific)

Yeah, I’m having the same issues. It was running really smooth previously but now I’m not sure what’s causing the issues.

Oof. I’m running on a Ryzen 3200G, quite a bit less powerful than your CPU. My CPU is also maxed out by the game, when loading and also, I think, during gameplay.

That’s not true whatsoever

Too bad this game has no support for DLSS or FSR.

This game has its own upscaling, just turn the resolution scaling down, it will auto upscale and it looks great, no need for FSR

@MrDUXCRO

I just want to bump this conversation because, even before all the gameplay and gamepass related problems, we need to hear from 343i about the AMD optimization issues specially the 400/500 series.

It is about the old GCN architecture ?
Meaby the DDR5 VRAM ?
Why does this game runs so poorly ?
There is something that can be done ?

Thank you

I don’t understand why this game eats up my i5 9600k so badly on a small 4v4 map

Yeah man… Same here… hopefully it’ll be optimized soon.
