Halo Infinite... is Fallout 76

Yup. Opening that can of worms.
Let’s describe them.
Game Hyped up and promises many things, only to have those promises broken on release
Game releases a 'early access testing" event just prior to release
despite getting tons of feedback during this beta, basically all of it is just “read” and nothing is done about it.
Day 1 comes… and the game launches in an incomplete, broken, buggy, laggy state.
In game experience suffers greatly, bullets don’t register, game crashes frequently, lock ups, lag
The REAL MONEY shop, however, is flooded with OVERPRICED cosmetic items, some using predatory systems to sell faster (limited time, sales, FOMO)

Ok now let’s compare it to fallout 76. - well honestly, they are the same, so I don’t feel like typing it all again. Just insert a “343 wants you to tell the difference from This Picture (halo infinite) and this Picture (fallout 76)” meme here. (They are, in fact, the same)

We expected better… but I guess we should take our money elsewhere. Not only is the game a broken buggy laggy jittery mess, but they have openly stated to get the things we expected, will take "months’. (forge mode, co-op, other multiplayer modes that that are staple halo experiences, etc)

You should have just delayed the game. You already delayed it a year, another 6 months wouldn’t kill it.

tho leaving it up as a playable title will definitely kill it, most likely within two months

how bad are the active player numbers now? Dropped to 10% yet?
Steam says 23K playing currently, that is… terribly low. 256K all time high were almost at the 10% dead marker. Lol.

I was thinking Anthem, but FO76 works too. Instead of “Fallout 1st” they can do “Halo 1st” lol.

i swear i saw someone make a post a few days ago that claimed only 7,000 players were on

wouldn’t surprise me, it looks like it is also near peak hours right now, so that’s “the best” it gets right now, obvoiusly doesn’t count Xbox players… but honestly Microsoft hides all that now anyway so accurate counts are nearly impossible.
The lows of the peaks hits around 6-8K every day. (those are in the US-Wee hours of the morning times)

Forgot to mention, since the MP and Campaign are on the same title - this includes single player adventures… so those numbers are TERRIBLE.

as a steam perspective, the ENTIRE MCC has about 5500 players, and average about 5,000 over the last 30 days… When your ‘brand new’ title is just barely doing better than MULTIPLE TITLES slung together in 1, you should be very concerned about player retention.

Damn I wouldn’t say it’s that bad. At least the bones are great, unlike 76 when it launched.

no… not at all. The shot registry is terrible, the rubberbanding/grapple inconsistancies, the melee ‘lock on’ failing for Keyboard/mouse while being overly aggressive on Controller, (yes I tested both, it’s not just rumor) the fact I can shoot around corners and be shot around them due to hit registry is a BIG no-no in FPS games.

and that doesn’t even grasp the amount of aimbotters I have seen lately… you can’t tell me spinning around like a helicopter and sniper headshotting is realistic, nor is commando cross-map perfect shots.

I never said it ain’t broken, but it ain’t F76 broken. Now look at Battlefield 2042, that’s F76 broken. I’d say this is more like Battlefield 3 or 4 broken as an example.

I’d argue its a toss up with Fallout 76… but then again… that’s like saying “Ok, winner gets to be called trash” Earlier today in fiesta i decided to go crazy and get into the wasp, and the turrets wouldn’t klil anyone, and switching to missiles was odd… they would fire in crazy patterns from the side must of looked like A - they would come out -usually ABOVE where i was, then go down at a steep angle, then sorta level out or rear back up…

couldn’t get a single kill with the thing, even though I caught several players offgaurd.

Well done you’ve tracked specifically how many players are using steam, ignoring the players using xbox app on PC, + 4 xbox consoles… which make up the vast majority of the player base. good job.

and your post btw, mind bogglingly stupid, this game has issues, oh it’s fallout. the only comparison you can make? most games release in an unfinished state nowadays, calling it fallout (a completely different genre of game) is the best you got?

‘majority’ lol. hardly. even if i multiply the number by 4 its still under 100K players total - which is horrible

I also mentioned consoles. But there is no way to accurately track them, because they know if a game loses too much population - it dies, and people seeing low populations assume its “on the way to death” which then makes the death happen faster - meaning they can’t milk whales for more money for as long.

I also pointed out the VERY SPECIFIC problems, that were , in fact, reported as early as the “betas” (flights) allowed, and are not fixed. The game shares many of the same problems, and is having the same 'we will fix it later" attitude WHILE having it’s overpriced shop working fine, full time, making more and more items to sell.

“most games release in an unfinished state” - and if you are OK with that - then YOUR part of the problem. This game has a full price tag on it, the game should be “Complete” it can have a 'few bugs" sure - I never expect things to launch bug free since the cartridge days are over (and even then, they had some issues if you looked hard enough) but the fact your “ok” with it being like this, is the problem on top of the game itself milking players like you for all they can.

Battlefield 2042 did the same thing -and look at it - it is dying. This should be a wake up to both Game Makers and Players who thought “everything is fine” - it is very much not ok to release it in this state, and no one should buy it in this state. THEY SHOULD BE PAYING US TO TEST IT IN THIS STATE.
Afterall, that’s what old Alpha and Beta testers actually did - play the game in a variety of ways trying to break it, finding bugs, and reporting them so they could get fixed.

It is already dead. Battlefield as a franchise is dead now.

Just to put this into perspective, Battlefield 2042 isn’t even in the top 50…

I mean the only promise that I remember Halo Infinite breaking was their approach to premium/earnable cosmetics. They said there wouldn’t be co-op/forge at launch. Am I forgetting other promises?

Either way, the promises broken by Fallout 76 were like: “you actually can’t play the game at all because everything is on fire.”

I don’t think they’re comparable.

I think you’re massively overstating how “buggy/broken” the Halo Infinite launch was by comparing it to Fallout 76.

Today I learned that any incentive for players to buy something is predatory.

This has to be bait. Fallout 76 was such a huge monumental disaster that it took years upon years for it to be even remotely playable.

Infinite is almost as broken. The game is centered around melee, which doesn’t function properly. The core is broken.

Haha this comparison was actually hilarious because it’s so true. Ultimately I think Fallout 76 was worse but Infinite is not far behind in terms of pathetic and down right disgusting tactics from the developer like Fallout.

They name it “Halo 1th” to reference a meme they made that only themselves found funny.

I already stopped playing this dumpster fire of a game weeks ago. Just goes to show 343 would rather continue to try and make a quick buck off a beloved franchise than actually focus on just making the best possible product for its consumers/fanbase.

Whoever decided at the studio that Halo should go f2p should be thrown from the roof and never allowed to work on games again.

You forgot to mention how broken ranked matchmaking is, matching players, going out of its way to match together those with wildly different MMRs, resulting in a frustrating experience for everyone involved.
