Halo Infinite is dying

Microsoft is the one getting a “deal” in regards to the Store.

True, but you know what I meant.

Wtf, this reply has no sense. “Many of us grew up and got a job” is not an excuse. A good franchise videogame should stay stable about numbers it ever had, or increase it. The comparison with Halo 3 is always acceptable because Halo 3 (and also Reach) were the tip of halo franchise and we are talking about 2007-2010. They reached 1 million population. And now we are always talking about Halo, so the numbers comparison is totally legitimate. Because from 1 million users to a couple of 100k users is totally a decline. We can’t deny it. Halo Infinite has a really good potential but 343 should always stay behind this game and it seems they’re not doing this, except for the shop! Anyway I hope they’ll fix it before may, becayse people can’t wait 5 months. 343 can’t claim people to stay in a broken game for months

I do, I just hope to get people to aim all of the (well deserved) hate for the Store at the people who can actually do something about it. It’s nice to give 343 ammo and data to throw on Microsoft’s desk and say “See? We told you.”, but far more effective to just go right to Microsoft with Molotovs ourselves.

You’re right, it’s a reason. If even half of that “100k Glory Days” population no longer plays video games, or doesn’t play them nearly as often, what do you think that’s going to do to the reflected populations today?

For you. It was the tip of the franchise for you. For others that tip might be the days of Halo 4, when lore for the Halo Franchise exploded and expanded. Others it might be when there was finally a Halo anime. But you’re only looking at the Multiplayer and using that singular experience to judge the success of a multi-media franchise.

Nope, not for me. For all. The numbers speak loud about it. Halo 3 and Reach were the tip about numbers and that’s a fact. If you are saying not, it’s the same thing to deny that 2+2=4 bruh

Yeah I’ve given up on playing for a while. Reasons being:

#1 Server desync;

I’m over magic bullets killing me through walls as I take cover. Melee fights are laughably inconsistent. Apparently rockets even if hit directly into an enemy sometimes won’t kill them, same goes for grenades. If you slightly graze a vehicle you’ll be sucked into the void and tp’d around with it. The difference between what’s happening in the server vs what you see on your screen is ridiculous.

Examples of this:

The worst rocket desync I’ve ever seen:
(ignore the entire vid I’ve linked it at the exact timestamp of the incident)

Sword desync:

#2 Player progression and armor customization butchered in the name of free to play;

For a game that was hyped up to have one of the most expansive customization systems of all the halo’s it sure does feel limited… Want that emblem you’ve been able to make in past games or your spartan to be black and yellow? Sorry you can’t just create your own or edit your colors anymore, you’ll have to hope one of our artists has made this combination and then purchase it from our rotating store or hope we put it in the bp…

Oh you thought buying that meant you could use it on any of the cores? Guess again! that’ll be another $20 chump! Why can’t you use colors/armors between cores? Technical limitations? nah we just want more money. Our bots can have cross core customization though because they don’t have credit cards.

Want to earn a cool piece of armor that’ll show to the players around you you’re a dedicated player or that required you to do something challenging to get? Too bad… have a couple fugly armor coatings/emblems from singleplayer collectibles that only apply to the least used core of the bunch. Or grind our weekly challenge that’ll likely require the use of challenge swaps and will force you to ignore match objectives. Oh and the reward for that won’t be anywhere near as cool as the stuff you can purchase sorry.

Otherwise buy our battlepass and grind through the heavily padded unlocks that’ll see you earning one shoulder piece per level inbetween challenge swaps/double xp’s and leaving anything remotely decent wayyy into the level 70+'s or not included in the bp at all but locked away in the store. (has a legends of reach themed bp but doesn’t include emiles/jorges shoulders or the halo reach pre order knife chest so they can sell them each in the store for double the price of the entire battlepass)

Oh and you think aiming to win games and play well will grant you the xp required to level this up? Think again… you want a level players… get kills with the worst weapon in the game that likely won’t even have spawned this weapon rotation or go run around trying to give 5 Spartan’s back massages while your teammates are forced to carry your -yoink- while you ignore the object. Afterall why aim for the object when you’ll get rewarded far less for that unless you play exactly as our challenges demand! Fun challenges? nahh we’ll give you mostly annoying ones so you’ll be forced to use 5 challenge swaps in a row so we can sell you more!

The battlepass too much of a grind for your -Yoink!- pants? Well then we’ll give you the option to buy levels! Afterall -yoink- the players who actually completed the bp with hard work and dedication, give us a $1000 and you can skip it all entirely and look like a veteran player!

#3 BTB’s gone on holidays

Enjoy BTB and want to play it with your friends? Sorry folks someone broke something so you’ll be searching for a match for 15 minutes that’ll likely end up crashing or breaking and giving you no UI. Oh but you can just be patient and wait for it to be fixed… unless we decide to make the weekly challenge something that’s 100 times easier to get in this mode!

Not to mention if you go into a BTB game with your friends then we’ll split you up and put you into separate squads for no reason at all… too bad if you’re not using party chat or discord because we won’t allow you to communicate with the whole team, just your 4 new buds we’ve forced you to squad with.

#4 Custom games, try unstable vanilla games

Love being able to create whacky modes to get away from the sweat fest that can be multiplayer? Well sorry chief, until forge is released you’ll be forced to play the same modes you’d get in matchmaking with barely any control over settings and will likely crash/dc players.

Wanted to be able to create a mode that lets everyone spawn with unlimited grappling hooks and play some spiderman capture the flag/oddball?? Welp sorry but we forgot to add this option to our custom game settings… but you can go to our training mode and do this with our bots… afterall who wants to do this with real people when we have ai players!

#5 Lack of pre/end game lobbies

Whats that? you wanted to be able to checkout your teams/enemy players stats/armor/files and talk smack between games… Sorry but we have these really cool loading screens you can sit in and enjoy all by yourself.

Map veto’ing/voting systems? Sorry but if we kept that in the game then players could get to a mode that actually contributes to their challenges easier and we can’t have that. Be thankful we gave you the few extra mode selections after we surprisingly got backlash that players wanted more than just a quickplay option…

#6 Clunky and slow loading menu’s

Hey we know you just sat through a loading screen when you booted up the game but we’re gonna need you to sit in the menu for a couple minutes while our server figures out who you are. We know you’ll understand since you surely won’t have to go through this every time the game crashes.

Spent a few thousand on a gaming pc to enjoy smoothness to the max? welll our menu likes to stutter and feel clunky when you switch tabs so enjoy. (Yeah I know this isn’t major but -Yoink!-… playing halo on a console from 2 generations ago makes this one feel like you’re running the game on a potato)

Had an error while searching for a game? let us spam you with that same error message over and over while bricking the lobby until you restart the entire game.

Was the QA team for this game a bunch of IGN reviewers just sending in reports to the devs saying “10/10 is good” because it sure feels like it sometimes.

Yes the gameplay is fun but the desync issues alone will take that fun and make you want to headbutt it through a wall. The butchering of the armor/progression system just feels like the execs undid their flies, whipped out their Johnson and turkey slapped the dedicated fanbase thats been around for 20+ years across the face. I’m sorry a lot of us don’t enjoy having features that have been with us since halo 2 removed and hidden behind paywalls… Yes it’s f2p… but make your money from cool unique items reserved for the store as well as battlepasses… don’t try and sell me 10 different variations of blue for $10/$20 each or I’ll sick angryjoe on your greedy butts…

Again I feel bad for the devs, you can see they really put their heart and soles into this but sadly as things go nowadays the publishers came in and seeked any opportunity they could to cut up content into bite size pieces to feed to us for $20 a pop…

This is my opinion after putting in about 60 hours into the multiplayer and reaching level 98 in the battlepass (without buying levels… I did cave and buy a few challenge swaps tho… ) won’t be putting myself through anymore bs especially since once you finish the bp theres nothing to strive for and I can’t just “play for fun” when desync ruins it. Thank god they’re at least adding an overall rank but this should’ve been in since day 1

I’m just gonna wait till they fix it.
They fixed MCC, let’s hope they actually put some extra effort for Infinite considering they are banking on this to last for 10 years.

Considering MCC got much better and had so many awesome update and additions over time, Infinite can do better.

Pretty much the same main games today as back then.
Series that have dropped see other similar games represented today,

2007 is also regarded as a golden year in gaming, something not really said about any year after that. One reason being the diversity in different games launched that year.

That’s Nice :+1:
I don’t remember asking though…

But it can be explained in many ways.

CSGO:

  • virtually no progression
  • limited game modes
  • dedicatedly competitive gameplay
  • limit maps
  • monetization based on loot boxes, fomo, and unbelievably high resale prices
  • functionally PC only
  • 10 years old

A game that “literally” unplayable and should be in decline by Halo Waypoint forum standards.

Halo could never hit 1mil with a single decent title. Hate to say it, but with the last 3 games (including MCC) having critical failures in their own ways, Halo has no chance of hitting 1mil players on Steam alone, not without some redemption titles first getting them back up to pre-4 levels of hype and worthwhile content.

those are SAD numbers considering we ar in the end of a holiday launch that gave us a campaign after wqaiting over 6 years, Halo 3 had half a million at that timeframe, infinite is in trouble because its dead on arrival

The thing is it may not actually be the Q/A’s fault. It’s like Q/A testers may test the game and feedback maybe ignored plus generally Q/A testers generally have no say on if the game get’s released/delayed since all people can is give feedback.

I haven’t played that game for one week and I don’t have the feeling that I’m missing anything lol

That one’s on the Dev’s. The BTB issue should have been a Day 1 fix. It is most definitely the main reason why tens of thousands of players are leaving, and most of them aren’t coming back.

The BTB issues were minor until the playlist update the week after launch. Nothing more than what other players were experiencing in other playlists.

When the update hit, the rampant crashes and server issues kicked in.

It speaks to mind when you just say FIX EVERYTHING. I do agree that there needs to be some fixing across all boards, but best to keep the criticism as detailed as possible.

We’re worried about Infinite damaging Halo’s legacy?

  • Halo of Duty: Edgy Chief 2012
  • Halo: The “Unplayable for a Year” Collection 2014
  • Halo 5: Guardians of the Twitch Shooter 2015
  • Honorable Mention - Halo: Fireteam Worth One Expensive Playthrough (whenever it silently released.)

200 something at peak. Litterally thousands upon thousands have already left this game. It’s dying. Get over it

Totally, totally, TOTALLY agree on everything. I thought to be the only one not killing about rockets or grenades and everything you wrote, including get killed while you are hiding behind a wall. It happens very often like the other things you wrote. This game really need a strong fix

276k, on Steam only, that’s massive. With an expected 40% population dip after the 11/14, which is what happens with most titles anyway.

150k on average after that, that’s an impressive number if you follow Steam trends.

It wasn’t until the playlist update that tanked BTB where you saw number dip to where they are now.

50k average players on Steam?

Not even close to dying buddy.

It’s indicative of unavoidable trends and fixable issues that can be corroborated with data and context.
