According to a bunch of news articles popping up, Certain Affinity is working with 343 to add a “new” “casual recreational game mode to get new players into the game”, codenamed “Tatanka”. Now, while the name Tatanka might not mean anything to most people, Tatanka is a childrens gym game which is basically tag. You run from one side of the gym to the other side when the buzzer beeps, and run back and forth, like the FitnessGram Pacer Test, tagging the line to be safe. The catch is that you have a person in the middle as the Tag It, and they try to chase you to tag you, and you become It, and join them. More people get tagged and become It, until all of them try to tag the last person.
In a nutshell, it’s basically back and forth Infection.
Here’s the kicker. That’s just called Sharks and Minnows. It has been an Infection Custom Game since Halo 3 and Reach. It’s nothing new. It’s nothing wild either. 343 could be bringing back Infection or Grifball, but they apparently are working on just stealing an already well know Custom Game mode for Matchmaking? Why?
They plan to release it around when Forge releases, which only furthers the question. WHY? We were going to make it ourselves anyway, assuming 343 adds Infection by then. Why go through the trouble to steal ideas?
This is just speculation, though. Besides a very lacking description, and code name Tatanka, I can’t honestly guess what this casual game mode will be. I’m just pretty sure.
