We are about a year and 3 months out from release and we haven’t gotten anything other than a trailer and the opening cutscene. As much as I like how 343 isn’t telling us too much too early, I would really like more frequent updates on when we might see more or be able to go hands on (with a beta or at an event). Something that I hope comes back towards the end of development is The Sprint. Am I alone on this? When do you think we will see a beta?
A lot of people share this sentiment. Personally I think its in poor taste when games appear at E3 several times. At most a game can be announced at E3 and followed up the next year with a look at in engine gameplay. 2018 was an engine demo, 2019 was a story snippet, and 2020 will hopefully be an in-depth look. Revealing it too early you run this risk of showing content that just never makes it to the game, and it makes me wonder what was the point of all that. Halo 5 suffered from being announced too early with cloak Chief being scrapped completely from the game. I’m sure post E3 2020 there will be a flood of info.
I am very impatient but I’m sure 343 is handling it well. They probably don’t want to reveal anything too early. Like the post above stated various reasons. Then after E3 we will probably receive a wealth of knowledge like cortana did when she was on installation 04
I feel your pain OP. As has most of the community. But given the disaster that was H5’s marketing, I imagine 343 is more than a little cautious about releasing information about Infinite. It’s party our fault if I’m being honest. We’ve placed so much importance on Infinite being the best Halo game ever. It’s hard to blame 343 for being as cautious as possible in releasing info about it. The other side of the coin is that it is partly their fault for their handling of the series thus far. But it seems that they have learned some valuable lessons from their time with Halo and are working hard to right the ship.
On a bright note, while I was listening to the Canon Fodder panel at the Houston Outpost, Frankie mentioned that the story line of Infinite is finished. So now I imagine the Infinite dev team is fully committed to the game play and other various aspects of game development. With that in mind, I could see the flighting program releasing at the end of the year and a game play trailer releasing shortly after that (if I recall correctly, 343 has previously stated that they intend for flighting to take place about a year before launch for all games going forward). Then Infinite could get a nice and simple 10-11 month marketing campaign, including game play and story trailers.
Unfortunately , Hype for a video game developer is more important than in almost any other medium. Game developers have a small window in which to inform , whet your appetite , and then follow through in a timely manner before the next big thing steals their thunder. if they give us to much info to quickly , it becomes old news long before they are ready to launch. By holding back all or most of the important information til the lead up to launch you ensure maximum return for your efforts.
As CDPR said in their message , " Releasing gameplay right away would make [later] game play presentations pointless and would significantly limit our chance to build hype. Why do we need to build hype? To get more gamers interested [in our game], and, hopefully, convince them to give it a go. Also, hype can turn into sales (after all, we are not a charity), and good sales allow us to grow, take creative risks and deliver new, great games for you to enjoy."
So just try to be patient and remember , it never gets better than it is right now. You have the hope of a great Halo game coming in the future , with all the discussion and predictions and anticipation of thousands (hundreds of thousands , millions maybe) riding that same train with you. Once the game is out , it is what is for better or worse.

I understand that revealing too early is dangerous but i feel like we got the announcement (which to me means they have stuff to talk about) and then got nothing. I’m just hoping this doesn’t back fire and everyone is dissapointed because it didn’t live up to their dream version of Halo. I just don’t have 100% faith in 343 because of their miss-steps, id like some kind of update just to know that things are going according to plan, or that they will share something when a certain part of the game is done.

I definitely think the H5 marketing strategy was a mistake and they also banked on MCC to help market it and we all know how that turned out.

Now that you mention it. With 3 highly anticipated shooters coming out in the next 3 months (Borderlands 3 in September, Modern Warfare in October, and Doom Eternal in November) 343i probably doesn’t want to get caught up in release coverage for these titles. Maybe in December during “lets sell Xboxes season” they will release some info.I’m just excited but I can be patient.

Yeah, after the gameplay reveal for H5, I turned to my roommate and said “So… I’m pretty sure that cloaked Chief got scrapped”

I really hope this is the case
