As we all know, Halo Infinite is the sequel/ follow up to 2015’s Halo 5 and 2017’s Halo Wars 2; as stated in the most recent reveal post by 343i. Halo Infinite will follow the Master Chief in his greatest story yet; once again saving humanity from near unstoppable foes. But where does that leave us?
With Halo 5 taking place in late October of 2558 and Halo Wars 2 being in June of 2559- we arent in need of much speculation. As posted by many fans on Twitter, a date can be found within the crashed pelican. But does that really mean that Halo Infinite will take place in May of 2560? No, and here is why.
While the crashed pelican can be seen displaying the date. The pelican is not fresh or new. Being an older model and being slamed in the sand, it can be assumed that this pelican has been here for some time; still keeping track of time. But how could the pelican be old if the UNSC is just now going over Inst 07?
I believe that even though this was just a tech demo for the game, it is possible we are seeing evidence that Halo Infinite will take place on both Inst 07 AND The Lesser Ark.
This gives 343i the perfect chances to explore the expanded universe in greater detail, Halo Wars 2’s following, Chiefs new armor, The Spirit of Fires crew and the Banished.
These are just my simplified thoughts. Leave yours in the comments below and tell me what you think.

I think you’re thinking about it too much.
Clocks don’t just stop ticking, you can assume that there is some power supply to the downed pelican (notice downed as we have no indication that it crashed) due to the screen displaying, so the clock would still tick up to May 2560.
Everyone is looking too far into the engine demo. Yes, there are some deliberate easter eggs put in there that may hint towards the game but I wouldn’t say that they’re saying something about it. I know the Halo community likes to rip advertising material apart but this is really overzealous.
even though its a engine demo its still a trailer for the game and gives us a general idea for the game in regards to visuals and art style while at same time give general small clues such as the morse code pointing to installation 07 or zeta halo
As the other guy said I wouldn’t just assume the clock had quit ticking. If there’s a power supply then its time is still moving. Now, if we are to assume they have been on the ring a while that raises a question. Why did Chief and the gang leave Sanghelios and go to Zeta Halo?

I think it’s likely that Chief is on that ring to either destroy it, or stop Cortana from using it. I pieced this theory together from the Halo 5 legendary ending where a halo ring lights up and Cortana hums in the background. We also don’t know for sure that Arby and the elites aren’t on the ring too.
I don’t know though. Probably just reading too much into this tech demo.
