Halo Infinite has Flatlined

With the big rank reset and “fix” of the “overly generous” ranked system….Halo Infinite flatlined for me today…nothing changed since the game launched…I just got demoted and the rank system still remains a broken mystery.

There’s no in game UI or explanation as to how the rank system works.

The battle pass was a joke.

With no new maps or content….other than the return of Feista challenges….the game has flatlined. Infinite was fun for a while…but recently has started to feel like a sweaty chore.

When the game surprised us with an “early release”, I convinced myself that was an open beta version of the game….here we are a season later and it’s still basically the same thing.

Ok

I’m SICK of facing tournament level players every game in social and ranked… if 22 million people played halo I sure as hell got matched only with the top 1%…

Make ranking like Halo 2, make social like Halo 2 it has nothing to do with your skill.

God, I want to be able to play halo and have fun not play expert level perfectly committed to calling out ever action in a damn social match… I can’t even have fun in this game anymore. Along with the horrible lag, shots never ever ever register which is crazy at this point in the games lifecycle… desync, high ping that I should just go play overseas or in the middle of the ocean. If tomorrows update doesn’t fix anything I’m done with this game for a long time… I’ll play MCC halo 2.

One of the problems with matchmakers is that whenever people jump in it takes time for them to sort people around to how good they are. Over time, it should improve putting people with players other players of similar skill. But until that time, it has really nothing to work with information wise upon you. You have a clean state, you don’t have a lot of games played in order to accurate give an idea what skill you are, ect.

Also, I don’t really Halo 2 being any better on the original XBox. Matches were often one sided stomps most games I recalled playing back then. More so when people started ditching in the middle and making it almost impossible to even come back from within minutes of the game starting.

Why I still prefer server browser with custom community servers over matchmaking entirely. You’ll get more of a social aspect from those then you’ll ever get from games that rely entirely on matchmaking.

I called it last week and I’m calling it again…if this game even works after the update tomorrow and doesn’t break anything then I’d be pleasantly surprised such is the incompetence of this 343i outfit…don’t get your hopes up for anything other than “meh”.

I’m just saying this game is getting worse with each update, I watch pros play and why is it all their bullets fit perfectly are they running Fiber internet located next to a server located new to a DNS server… I don’t get it. They get good connections and us regular players bet the worse…

I agree and I have absolutely no idea why that pretty much always seems to be the case for pros and streamers (on many games not just Halo), but what I do know is that online gaming only requires a limited amount of upload and download speed so good connections in game aren’t dependent on how fast your broadband speeds are.

Location can make a difference as well as the player having a symmetric connection instead of asymmetric. In other games, such as Destiny 2, there is an extreme difference. The top players are not just good in that game; they live in exactly the right location for an optimal connection.
