Does the Halo Infinite Grapple need any changes? Personally, I find that the distance it can extend to needs to be tweaked. The Grapple feels like it travels a bit too far once launched. I feel that shortening it a tad would be best. It would also force players to encounter each other more in certain situations, which I see as a benefit. Thoughts?
I think travel length is ok, perhaps it could even be increased by a meter or two.
The real problem I found is to see the tini tiny UI indicator…
And I don’t like the “auto melee” function. It should be an active action from the player to reward player skill.
I like it how it is, decent distance but fairly slow. Use it in the open and you will be punished.
I think it’s perfect, the devs will have made all these tweaks already! It is a wrist launcher after all there’s only so far the cable before people start complaining saying “it’s so unrealistic”
Needs a significant rebalance when it comes to vehicle jacking. Far too easy to steal all vehicles, including air, when you have it. Perhaps button mash or for air vehicles do a roll.

Yeah see this is why I felt the distance was too long, mainly the vehicle jacking. I think it is a cool item to use for maneuvering and grabbing weapons, but being able to grapple to a vehicle so quickly and it being instantly jacked can get a little annoying. I do feel you should still be able to grapple to them like you said, but definitely needs to have more resistance, also like you said. Maybe only certain spots of vehicles should be able to grapple, or maybe the momentum can make it risky and you can get flung into some rocks instead of it being a straight zipline there. Halo does incorporate a lot of physics in gameplay, would make sense if the grapple wasn’t always a straight line.
My only change is that I think you should spawn with it!
It should only have 1 or 2 uses (unless you pick up more) but I think it should be there as your default equipment every time you spawn.

I strongly disagree, this would be chaos lol

Yes, the auto melee is cheap. It is as you said, players should be rewarded based on skill.

I agree that the grapple length should be increased, a lot of environment that I wanted to grapple with was too far out of reach. But imo the active grapple time should remain very similar to keep people from reaching unintended places. I played both weekends and I didn’t even realize auto melee was a thing! While it may be in the name of accessibility, I agree that it disregards player skill and should not be in the game at all.
It’s honestly just fine the way it is.
It does its job.
Extending its range will turn it into another busted armor ability we do not need.
As long as it’s good enough to be an advantage vs a player who doesn’t have it, that much is enough.
If people wanna play spider man, then at least add a custom option to change grapple behaviour when modding or making customs.

I think it’d be ok if limited to 1 use.
Sure if everyone spawned with unlimited or many it would be chaos but I don’t think having just 1 would do that. Plus it’d introduce new players to equipment and the importance of picking it up and using it.
Grapple jacking seems way to easy. That needs to be a rare and rewarding feat. Maybe consider only a small portion of the vehicle as effective for grapple jacking, or consider the vehicle speed.
It needs all of the “automatic” functions removed completely.
Those include auto-melee, auto-pickup, and auto-high jack. All of these should require input from the player to accomplish.
On the topic of grapple jacking all normal high jacking limitations need to apply. That’s to say if a vehicle is moving full speed you should only be able to high jack it if you grapple it from behind (so your speed and direction match it) aside from that all normal collision damage physics should apply. If you are flying into the front of it you should splatter and die, if you’re flying into the side you should simply be unable to jack it, and maybe take a bit of collision damage.
Also items pulled to you such as the flag need to lose all momentum upon reaching you, so they can’t be flung across the map.

While I think the grapple is really fun in its current state, I completely agree with this post for the sake of balancing skill with fun.

Same with the auto grab weapon and hijack
Maybe if the vehicles did hard turns it can breaks the grapple line?
recharge needs to be faster, I want to pretend I’m spider man!

I agree with all of this for sure. The only buff that I’d envision for the grapple is just slightly increasing it’s range (maybe 5-10m). More times than not it seemed I felt something was just “in range” of the grapple but upon actually trying it out, I’d grapple nothing but thin air. Few steps forward and bam I was there. But hey, maybe I’m just not that great with it yet haha.
