Halo Infinite General Feedback

Hello there…

First of all, I would like to say that I really enjoyed the flight! It was fun, amazing to play and me and my old friends from the golden Halo Years were with me on the couch to play Halo again. Like old times. The four of us were taking turns in playing BTB to 4v4. Even though we had our fun, our main goal was to give feedback. We wrote down our observations and ideas so let’s get started.

Give higher sensitivity please. Personally I think it should be better if there are higher options to play with and to react faster.

Melee, Reload, Melee. “Double Melee”. When you are able to reload. You can first do a melee, then hit the reload button and as soon as that action follows, you can melee again. You can defeat someone in CQC in a matter of seconds. Isn’t this too overpowered?

Needler sounds perfect when firing. However, the reload sound when the crystals pop up should sound more sharper and more crystalized in my opinion. Both the sound intensity and the way it sounds.
Bulldog: Great weapon! Plays nice and balance between the fire rate and balance output is really good! Nothing to add! Good job!

Heatwave: Really cool design and plays wonderful. I do think that the damage for close quarters should be increased a bit more like the Bulldog. The fact that you can switch the way it is shot, is just genius.

Ravager: Does its name justice. Truly an amazing new weapon you designed and absolutely terrified to play against someone wielding it! Well done!

Shock Rifle: Awesome weapon. Looks like one of the Brute Captains could hold it. I do however think that the damage should be increased. Either by lengthening the shot a bit longer, or by adding more damage to the ‘Chain’ effect. Apart from that, reload times and rate of fire are really balanced!

Plasma pistol: Should have the EMP stun effect on vehicles again. Also the damage against shield should be increased because it’s plasma. And the overcharge seeking shot should be targeted better, so once I shoot an overcharge against an adversary, the shot tracks the player.

Grappleshot and Repulsor are amazing! They both work well within Infinite and you did an amazing job! The Drop Wall should become stronger in my opinion. It is really weak and destroyed easily. I also would like to have two/three more pieces of equipment added to the game. Perhaps even a piece where you can heal other teammates like the regenerator from Halo 3. Or even a mine or a mortar to deal damage. Maybe even a trap where an EMP pulse is emitted. I’m just thinking out loud, but I would love to see more equipment.

Radar range should be increased to 25 meters. Due to sprinting, enemies sometimes appear out of nowhere. This really should be increased because the 18m is really frustrating.

Warthog crosshair should be a bit larger in my opinion. The sound of the Machine Gun and of the engine are spot on! The Warthog also drives like magic!
I do think that the Warthog should have more health, before it is destroyed. I let one bot shoot at me at marine level, with an Assault Rifle and the Warthog was destroyed in a matter of seconds. I don’t know if there are more vehicles or aircraft that are destroyed as easy as the Warthog, but I would like if they have more health.

In Summary, according to my opinion. Some weapons and the Warthog should be adjusted a little bit to make it perfect. Apart from that, I really would like to thank every single person who was involved in making this game/flight. Everything is in balance and the sound design is just amazing. The new weapons are really good too! I have been playing Halo since I was 6 and you brought the nostalgia back. I am 25 now and I think I am not the only one who played this Flight that felt like a little kid again. The pillars you were referring to in one of the Inside Infinite updates, are really reflected while I was playing this game. Every single one of you have put so much in this game and for that you have my greatest respect and love.

hope this gets acknowledged, but just wanted to post a couple of points that stood out to me while playing the technical preview of Halo infinite:

Overall I had a blast, just playing with bots was a lot of fun and I actually had a hard time stopping. It somehow feels like a 90’s arena shooter with a modern/sci-fi touch of course, but it’s really unique in that sense and it’s a breath of fresh air in this somewhat one-dimensional shooter market nowadays. There were a couple of things however I would like to address…

  1. While I think the maps are great in regards to their layout and structural design (hey have a great flow to them, particular the smaller maps) I somehow do miss the typical halo aesthetics. The graphics are very beautiful, that’s not the issue, but maps like Bazar or the rest just seem too contemporary, you could put them in a cod or BF game and it would work, I hope that there will be more unique maps in aesthetic terms. Don’t get me wrong, the maps look good but the 3 smaller maps just seem too “normal” for a lack of a better term, considering this is a halo game. Bazar while it feels great to play is a little off putting to me due to the aesthetics, it really looks like a cod map and we have had enough cod I think.

  2. The zoom feature, particular the 2nd fire mode with the commando, BR and sniper seems useless, if your are being put out of zoom mode when someone hits you. I kind of understand why they are doing it, to punish you for not being careful enough and to not give you too much of an advantage, but I think it’s the wrong decision. In the end I didn’t even bother zooming in at all, even with the BR, because the situations where you are really unbothered by other players and where you can take your time to zoom in, aquire a target, fire a couple of shots are few and far in between. Except for the sniper rifle I didn’t use the zoom-in function at all for that particular reason, it’s very annoying and for that reason I didn’t use the sniper rifle too much. My suggestion would be to get rid of the zoom function, just leave it with the 3 weapons or the weapons that actually have a scope and let people stay in zoom-in mode. It’s a rather fast paced game where you have to keep paying attention to your surroundings anyways, so being boxed in into zoom-mode is not really that big of an advantage, so I don’t understand what the big problem is with leaving it that way. Why is there a zoom function if I can barely use it at all?

  3. It seems rather difficult getting your hands on other weapons besides the starting weapons. It feels like I spent most of the time playing the machine gun and the pistol and it feels kind of one sided after a couple of games, I don’t know what the issue is, maybe make the spawn times shorter for the weapons, because it was a rather frustrating experience in the end, since I wanted to play with other weapons too, but I could barely get my hands on any and if I did you don’t have much time to play since the game play loop with play, die, spawn is rather fast in this game.

Hope these things get addressed, they are rather minor things imo, because this seems to be turning out to be a really great game and I’m looking forward to playing it in November!!

shock rifle shouldn’t emp, I would prefer if it just did better damage. The plasma pistol is pretty much useless now except for its meh tracking ability. You should fix the plasma pistol’s tracking, and give it its emp back.

Sniper reticle is too small to me and should have no accuracy nerf when descoped

Vehicles should get a health boost cause the self destruct timer makes it so you aren’t able t o spend much time in the vehicle if you take damage.

need more visual indicators for vehicle damage

Plasma pistol needs buffs to make it useful, not damage, but tracking or something.

Really needs some form of progression like reach for people who don’t want to buy battle passes. We rent t one able to earn credits and unlock what we want. Like an armor tree or something.

Think warthog turret and machine gun turret shooting effects seem a little too much like it’s shooting little balls. It should look more like lines of bullets flying out like older halos. Also the turret on a hog should have an accuracy nerf, and the reticle should increase in size a bit so it’s more of a support weapon.

The threat scanner should be able to stick to vehicles and stuff

Grab hammer physics need help, we want everything and everyone to fly

I think that the female Spartan announcer should be toned down, and replaced more for the personal AI. Like instead of the announcer saying the flag is taken, your AI should say that, that’s the point of the AI, to give tactical information.

other than this, I love your game. I have a few other issues but they can’t really be fixed. I think you guys are doing great, I just want to say make sure your vision lines up with the legacy of halo. Keep doing what your doing by being open with fans and listening to them. I really appreciate your care for the community! I look forward to finishing this fight.
