I have already made another post about what you guys think will happen in the events of Halo Infinite’s story (I suggest you check that out if you have’nt already)
But now i wanna see what people think of the actual gameplay of Halo Infinite
Do you think old game mechanics will return?
Will there still be boosts and thrusters like in Halo 5?
Whatever it is I wanna hear about it!
Ideally: I would love to see 343 embrace the classic formula of the weapon, grenade and melee by putting it front and center.
Realistically: I think we will get a more refined ‘advanced movement’ game (so another restricted movement game).

I think if they balance spartan charge a bit, and offer a mix of playlists using classic and modern movement, we could end up with the best of both worlds.
I would love for 343i to go back to the classic gameplay without sprint or spartan abilities. This is what most of the community wants if you go look on other forums and YouTube videos, there’s a -Yoink- ton of people asking for classic gameplay.
This should be the start of Halo Infinite:
Thomas Lasky: Were under attack
Johnson: Appears
Thomas: How did you survive?
Johnson: That’s top secret
I promise that by doing this, Halo will be restored to its former glory.
I would like to see the classic Halo gameplay return. I think sprint and clamber have no place in Halo. 343i should find ways to include interesting interactive ways on maps to move around, rather than relying on the addition of base mechanics that often negatively affect map design and gameplay.
Id prefer a more classic halo. Im ok with some of the abilities like hover and pound. If clamber and thrust were nerfed so they dont dominate the game so much they would be ok but sprint absolutly needs to go, but im almost absolutly sure it will stay. I suspect we will see one or two small concessions to classic halo but in the end sprint will still be in the game and it will play like halo 5.
I think it’s going to be a mix of both. I can’t imagine them going 100% classic but I also can’t see them going all in on enhanced mobility like H5 following the years of backlash. I personally want a mix.
Think something along of the lines of “limiting” advanced movement and the snow ball effect it brings. Basically Halo 5: Guardians base mechanics but rung back from there, so most probably similar to the HCS settings.
I think to improve on the above;
- Adding the disable ability to clamber which happens when a player shoots another player (that is clambering) someone which makes them drop, creating prospect and opportunity to positional height advantage once more. - Spartan Charge is way to gimmicking to remain but if it does stay it should at least burn the thrust when used to balance it and create more risk-reward situations. - Starting weaponry needs to be utility weapon that is good in most areas but not great in any, so a weapon on the map can be traded out for it but only satisfies certain areas for advantage. - Adding equip-mental pickups is a “better” way to create interactivity to the game that is both equally accessible but pertains to further map control.
I actually enjoyed the abilities, they made the Mjolnir armor seem like it’s actually a suit of powered armor.
Way back in the days of Joyride Studios’ Halo CE figures one of the descriptions for the Chief read something like the armor itself had the financial cost of an entire frigate. For one suit of Mjolnir. We’ve seen how massive those frigates are.
The abilities, to me, made the Mjolnir armor itself as much a weapon as the firearm in your hands. No more did I simply feel like I was an oversized Marine with a shield and motion tracker, I felt like a frigate’s worth of lethality. I’d like to keep them for campaign at least, for PvP the devs can do whatever.
Personally, I would love to go back to the classic gameplay of Halo 3. The new controls in Halo 5 are fun but to complicated. I like the graphics and the setup for Halo 5 and the controls for Halo 3 and it would be awesome for a nice combination of the two.
i want the a mix of halor reach and 3 that’s will be epic and no armor lock no sprint and no spartan charge !

343i have always based their development of Halo games around creating carbon copies of what’s selling the most at that time (perks, killstreaks, lootboxes, games-as-a-service titles, etc.,) so Halo: Infinite will be whatever other popular shooters are doing around the time of its release.
343i have had this mentality for over half a decade now, so it’ll persist into Halo: Infinite.
A refined and simplified version of Halo 5 would be great. imo clamber sprint and spartan charge don’t need to be a thing but i like the thrusters and ground pound.
While I would love to see a return to the classic Halo gameplay, I think it’s very difficult that 343 is going to scrap the gameplay that they have been working on since 4.
Realistically, I’d like to see nothing more added to the core gameplay, with the team putting more effort on what we already have.
At this point, I think it’s better have a more refined gameplay than the introduction of more mechanics that could potentially break an already very weak balance
First off, I think 343 considers Halo 5 multiplayer to be a success so I think they will continue in that direction and further ‘evolve’ its gameplay.
However, as far as the campaign is concerned this is where I could see the gameplay differing a little if at all. Sorta depends on how ‘open world’ they decide to go with it.
Those are just my initial thoughts though with the little to no info we have on the game.
I am a fan of the classic movement, but I feel that 343 will try to keep some aspects of the newly created abilities. The only thing I think should stay is clamber, but only for extraordinary distances.
If they drop every ability (sprint included) and leave thrusters it would be great. If they went full classic it will be incredible
