So I stumbled on this thread because I’m having an identical issue that’s described. My systems specs are below.
Ryzen 7 5800x
32GB G.Skill DDR4 3000 MHz RAM
Gigabyte RTX 3080 Ti
Inland 2TB NVME SSD
Windows 11 Pro
Has anyone checked their Event Viewer under the Windows Logs > Application section? For me my game is crashing suddenly whenever it loads any match, including campaign. As soon as it tries to load, the sound cuts out, game freezes, and then it crashes. I haven’t tried disabling my network adapter or uninstall the game yet… But in the Event Viewer I’m getting a very consistent error with HaloInfinite.exe. It appears to be a KERNELBASE.dll error.
I’m investigating this now. I was just playing this game last week with no issues. Now I can’t load into a match… I did update some of my chipset drivers between now and then though, so I don’t know if that had anything to do with it, or if it’s just Microsoft’s POS operating system and crappy updating. If you guys are having the same issues I’ll post if I can track down a fix.
Well, not sure what was happening but I tried to uninstall the game using the XBOX App in Windows 11 and reinstalled it and now it suddenly works. Problem has gone away.
Almost March now. Has the issue been fixed for you? My steam and gamepass versions crash to desktop about 5 minutes into a match. Every single time. Using a 3090 GPU. Tried default, medium, low settings, etc. Tried all the fixes I could find to no avail.
My Xbox series x will crash on halo infinite as well. Super frustrating. Happens to me more often then that though… Kicks you straight to dashboard randomly. Doesn’t matter what you’re doing. Mainly on ranked playlist on MP for me.
There’s a few games on Xbox that have/do that. Forza 7 had that problem at launch, they did fix it pretty quick. It comes and goes with PUBG, it’s currently back and mainly happens after game and returning to lobby but it can kick you to dashboard during game, but it is rare.
Hi everyone, I use PC GamePass Halo Infinite and it crashed every 3 games or so until I did these two things;
Paused OneDrive sync while playing - Just right click on the one drive symbol in the bottom right corner of the pc toolbar selecting pause and then choose your timeframe e.g 24 hours to be sure.
Disable Location services; go to PC settings, Privacy, Location and then turn ‘allow location to this device’ to off.
I’m not sure if the issue was resolved by one or both of these changes but after I’ve had no crashes for 10+ games.
Do you personally use OneDrive? If not, just uninstall it. Also uninstall Cortana if you don’t use it. I really don’t know too many people who use those.
If you don’t use any of those, it sounds like you never optimized/tweaked your Windows settings. You can find plenty of guides on YouTube. There’s even a guy on YouTube that made a PowerShell command that gets rid of all the unnecessary garbage. Another channel called TroubleChute who is really helpful also.
This is exactly the same error I get… last played the campaign in October of last year… my save file is there, but every time I load the save file, it gets to the loading screen, the music plays, then cuts out and silently crashes to desktop.
Oddly enough multiplayer works fine, I can navigate in the menus just fine, plus multiplayer, the crashing is specific to the campaign. I thought maybe the campaign file was corrupt since they patched the game, but no, even starting a NEW campaign causes the same silent crash to desktop.
I eventually (only once in like ~8 attempts) got this weird situation where the save file loaded with a crash error visible! I could even move around for a bit and play until the game fully crashed:

The error is
Haloinfinite.exe - Application Error
The exception unknown software exception (0xe343000a) occured in the application at location 0x00007FFFACA7FAEC
Disabling network made no difference.
Looks like I will have to go the uninstall/reinstall route…
