Halo Infinite (Game Pass PC) is STILL crashing

Not sure where to post this, hope this is the right section. Got a driver update today from Nvidia (497.29) and the crashing seems worse. I made it a habit to play some custom games before playing online, FFA with 7 bots to make sure I can get through a few games. Now I can’t even load in the game without the game crashing.

PC specs: 5800x 3080 Strix 32gb 3600Mhz RAM Win11

A few days ago I could play one maybe two games of ranked, I got banned from ranked from the game crashing. It crashed mid game and then again loading into a game. I tried every fix I read online. Uninstalled HD textures, run game as admin, disable my OC and run factory card settings. Turned off both Xbox gamebar and Nvidia overlays, closed out MSI afterburner. Hell, I’ve read online about some Halo Infinite tournament didn’t have any Xbox’s and they first tried some PC’s but the games kept crashing, they then had to gather up some Xbox dev kits. That’s a dead giveaway there are issues on PC, is 343i even going to announced they acknowledge this and working on a fix? If they have, where did they announce this?

My PC version from the MS Store/Game Pass used to crash a lot. I uninstalled HD textures and I set the min frame rate to 60 and the max frame rate to 120 and changed the exposure and full screen effects to 50% instead of 100%

and I haven’t crashed since.

What GPU you using? I tried all that and no difference.

I have a 980ti

Ok, so there was one thing that I didn’t do nor thought of. I use Ryzen Master and use it’s auto OC. I went back to default and now it seems to be fine. I was even able to have MSI Afterburner running and Riva overlay running with Halo. Halo still doesn’t like GPU overclocking, it will still crash with my +135 core +1150 mem settings. Seems stable on a very light overclock, +80 core +600 mem, even undervolt/locked volt will work. My undervolt is .0825 @ 1995Mhz, Locked volt is 1volt @ 2010Mhz and both seems to be stable.

I’m convinced the issues with Halo crashing on PC is due to CPU and not so much GPU. It is a PITA to keep switching from auto OC to default in Ryzen Master every time I want to play Halo.

My Series X crashes at least once a night, so it is happening on console as well. Oddly enough though, I play with someone on the One X and they haven’t crashed yet to my knowledge. It’s weird.

I’m hearing that also but, it seems to be more problematic on PC. Did you see what happened at their HCS event? That is embarrassing, and on top of that they blamed AMD and it’s drivers. They won’t take any ownership that the problem is on their side and not drivers or hardware.

Update: Found a fixed. I uninstalled the game and downloaded Halo Infinite from Steam, luckily everything transferred over. Game works fine now, even with my overclocks. The problem is defiantly with the game pass version, which I hope they fix since I can’t play campaign now.

Just adding that this is also happening to me on PC Game Pass, did a full uninstall/reinstall and on the latest drivers for nvidia (3090). Crashes in first 5 seconds, made it to 10 seconds once. Tried maybe 10 times.

Having exactly the same issue with the game pass pc version. Crashes after a few seconds to up to a minute of campaign gameplay. Ryzen 9 5900x, RTX 3090, Nvidia Driver is 297.29, Windows 10 Pro 64 bit 21H2 fully patched.

This really does suck. The game is unplayable for many of us and there hasn’t been any feedback

343i needs to be more transparent that’s for sure. They replied to my service ticket like this issue is unique to me and only me.

Keeps crashing for me also

Same issue happening to my friend only within this week (was completely fine before??). Both updated our drivers hoping for a fix but no luck

I’ve been playing on PC using the steam version, running on a 3080Ti with pretty high specs. Soo frustrating because it doesn’t just crash the game it makes my whole pc restart which is awful for my Bluetooth devices.

Wish they’d sort this out, even more annoying when you’re trying to complete challenges for limited time events but you can’t even get through a game :frowning:

I am having the same issue, the game is constantly crashing, sometimes even in the main menu.

I tried all the fixes that people mentioned online but none worked, then I saw some mentioned that he was able to stop the game from crashing by playing offline (that is disconnecting the internet when playing the game).
I tried it and can confirm that it works.

It sucks since it means you can’t play online, but if you want to play the campaign, give it a shot.

Apperantly something the game trying to send to the servers cause it to crash, might be that it is trying to access somthing it has no permissions for.
Hopefully this will get fixed soon…

Exactly the same for me, full reboot of PC

Crashes for me all the time on PC. Steam version. Makes game modes like Ranked absolutely unplayable.

I crashed until I set my min/max FPS to 120.

When it was uncapped I crashed. When I set the max to 240 it crashed. Only game this happens to me but, whatever, it’s working now.

Here to say, this is happening to me too. Early December, I was able to play no issues, never crashed once. Now i can’t play more than 1 game if lucky. Most games within the first 30 seconds crash, straight to desktop, sometimes in the menu. Its aweful and unplayable. 2070 Super, 16g ram, 2 TB SSD,
