A few initial suggestions I have after playing with forge for an hour:
Search bar for menus
Objects and nodes can be hard to find, so players searching for them could improve the user experience. Especially if when an object / node is searched for, it also tells the player where they can find it by navigating the menus.
Ex: In search bar I would search for “BR75”, and the search menu would provide something that looks like this, where the top row represents the location of the object, and the bottom row represents the search result (if there were multiple results, each result would appear in this format in a list of the results):
The controls as they are, they’re fine. However, it would be nice to get a dedicated forge control customization section in the settings menu, like how other game modes and parts of play get dedicated control schemes which the player can customize. Specifically, the movement controls for the monitor would be wonderful to customize
Ex: When playing campaign and multiplayer, my crouch button is shift (or Left Stick Click), and my jump button is space (or A). In forge, fly up is space, and fly down is C. I would like to be able to change it from C to shift, as that aligns more with my other controls.

Add a button in the pause menu of custom games to “Bookmark Map”, that way players who are playing custom games with their friends do not have to search through the file share system, and can bookmark maps as they play them.
I’ve been running into a lot of texture aligning issues with some of the more detailed textures. So being able to edit textures separately from the object would be nice, like moving the texture up, down, left, and right, being able to rotate the textures and scale the textures. This feature would go a long way to making maps look way better.
When trying to script welded objects to move with phased or fixed physics, only the parent object will move instead of the whole object. Not sure if thats by design or if its a bug but really irritating.
Add a way to “remove” the ability to grab forge items by the middle and always use the XYZ arrows instead.
The middle grab feels extremely inconsistent to use. Sometimes dragging items makes them go across the floor, sometimes they go through, sometimes they fly towards you and go into the sky instead. It’s not very usable.
Very often when trying to move an item by its XYZ axis the middle point get selected instead and rather than just finetuning the Y-axis the entire object goes into the sky and I need to reposition it again.
Even when using snap positions of pretty high numbers like 1’ or 2’ the game has this need to always move crap by .20-.03 extra when copying or placing things and makes for a chore to reposition things.
The magnet mode seems useless, it sometimes just doesn’t move from its initial position even though the white blocks match up and when it does match up it often screws things up and doesn’t match them exactly, again leaving tiny margins of .01’s.
The ability to build a map using basic blocks is great, but having to then paint the entire thing after its built is a big pain. You can select some items at the same time and then try changing texture 1, change color 1, change texture 2, change color 2, change texture 3, change color 3.
Some way to either “paint” texture onto surfaces maybe the ability to bookmark “UNSC Poured wall rough somewhere near the bottom of the list but not all the way so you need to scroll down every time and then scroll back up a tiny bit to look for it except in the cases where it somehow bugged out and moved to the top of the list or the other exception where texture 1 and 3 have the ability to use a certain texture but screw you texture 2 doesnt and now its too late you built your entire map out of these blocks and one of the sides of your walls is ruined”
Often the game bugs out and holds my movement button down when tapping to move slowly, so instead of moving a tiny bit it boosts me across half the map im building.
Hovering over different colors for a block too quickly causes the game to crash.
Don’t know if any of these things are just personal issues and there’s features I don’t know about, in that case it wasn’t very clear that they were.
Forge seems very powerful and I’m nearly done building a map i’m very happy with but when you’re working on a map for a few days you really notice all these little annoyances every few minutes and it really kills it for me when I’m working on something for consecutive hours.
Object collision does not match several objects’ mesh and while that makes sense for these objects when they are small, it becomes a problem when the objects are scaled up to player size if you want to use them as level geometry instead of just accent pieces. I love that I’m able to find new game modes and maps very easily and load them into my party lobby quickly and efficiently. This new aspect of Halo Infinite is generating lots of hype and excitement for my friends and I!
Something that was really bothering me while scripting was the lack of color to indicate typing. Something akin to Unreal Engine blueprint editor, strings are purple integars are teal floats are green etc.
Navigating the node menu is also very difficult for me, I think it would be really helpful if you could add nodes based on other nodes. A search functionality that takes into account the node you are attaching from
Some thins seem missing from what they showed off in the fundamental videos. Such as the Forge Fundamentals – Lighting & Audio. I can’t seem to get the lighting probes to show up when I enable the setting. I also can’t find the reflection volume object in the browser referenced at 16:08. I can’t seem to find the “light probe marker” referenced in the level bound probes section of the Map options either.
Then when trying to build any aspect of the lighting I’ve let it run for 2 hours and nothing happened. Having a log or some progress checks would be a stellar quality of life improvement there. But if users have to wait over 2 hours for 30 probes in a small area and no reflection volumes, something isn’t right.
Also some textures dont always look the same on other objects for wxample i used painted and changed to my desired color one of the three items is more worn looking than the other two would be nice for textures to be more consistant across all objects
I am not a pro forger or editor so maybe i am just missing something but my biggest complaints right now are scaling and textures.
Some textures dont seem to able to be used on some objects like camo paint only seems to work on certain objects for example there are more ive notice as well. A way to edit the positioning and scale of the textures would be nice so u can alighn textures and use the differently by scaling them or moving them.
Also scaling objects is nice but some items u can only change certain axis and some not at all like the triangle in primitives can not be scaled on the x y or z seperatly it can only scale all three at the same time so it is always a equal triangle u can not make a un equal triangle makes it hard to make the shapes u need or want for your builds when u can not create the proper shapes or even find them in the list of objects. Also i do not know if u can skew items but being able to change the skew of a item might help acheive certain shapes u need as well. Really want to see full freedom in the scaling
Thats all i can think of atm mostly would like scaling and texturing to work better.
Would like to able to highlight a object and grab the object to move it with a mouse instead of the way it is now like we could in pass Halo Forges. It’s a pain in the hyney to move objects the way it is now.
In the community search for maps and prefabs please fix these areas.
Example:If you are on page 50 of the maps area and you decide to download a map to check it out. So you want to continue to check out what else is out there to download and go back where you left off.
The problem is if you want go back where you left off on page 50 "YOU CAN"T!!! You have to start alll over from page 1 and hit your “X” button 50 times to get back where you left off! . . . Are you kidding me?
I agree 100% we really need a search bar for FORGE!!
Would be nice to be able to use the same key bindings we use in the game in forge like we could in pass Halo Games.
FIx the crashing issue when in Forge. ( We never get a error message to find what what caused forge to crash )
Weapons and Weapon Pads: Can’t see to find where you can set the respawn time settings for weapons or weapon pads like we can in pass Halo Games.
Can’t seem to find what weapons are for weapon pads. Are weapon pads all random? or specific for a weapon or what?
I have no idea where the textures are located in forge.
Why when I save my prefabs on a map then goto a different map all my prefabs are all gone. WTH is that all about? Does that mean when I go to a different map I have to create my Prefabs all over again for each map? Really?

Would have been nice to have some “DOX” so we could understand forge alittle better!

A search bar is desperately needed! I’ve been trying my luck with the node graphs and apart from the buggy nature of the menu, the lack of search bars is my biggest gripe. For examble when placing a new string variable, I can’t just write my own string (which is annoying by itself), I have to select one from a very long list. I guess at least it’s alphabetically sorted, but having an easily accessible search bar would save me hours, if not days of time in the long run.
Primitive blocks don’t have access to all materials, primitive cylinders are not able to have any material applied to them, rotation on prefabs gets screwed up if using undo after deleting a part of the prefab. Also being able to scale grouped items would be very useful, and maybe allow us to set the global water high of the map that has it or allow us to add in a plane of water, we don’t need to be able to swim just more for the decoration aspect.
For #7 when editing the object properties there is an advanced weapons option or something and under that is static weapons settings. Not only do you have to select the weapon you want, but you also have to enable the use static weapon field or else its still random. This goes for equipment as well.
I would like the option to disable a vehicle’s abilities when placing them in forge. For example, you could deactivate the chopper/ghost’s primary weapon, but allow for the use of boost (or vice versa).
Alternatively you could add this option in other ways (e.g., scripting, or through game mode options).
