I dont personally think there will be AI in forge, I think bots will be on official maps that they have been nav-meshed for. I think forge was just the last thing they planned on doing and the delay along with redoing a chunk of the game since last year put a kink in that plan and forced it to be pushed back.
People have been hoping and praying for it, and while it would be cool and make for some really rad custom games, I dunno if it’s possible. I mean, it could be possible, especially since they’ve managed to put AI in matchmaking, but until the mode releases, we can’t be sure unless they announce something officially.
I would assume that’s the reason forge is delayed for Infinite. And, good news, I feel like forge-able AI is all but confirmed from a reddit post (not going to link it to avoid breaking the rules). In the 6th paragraph, the dev goes on to talk about forge mode, In it, he says “There’s also some grumbling about Forge being released with the game spoiling a few new enemy reveals,” which, how I’m so far interoperating it, there will in fact be forge-able AI, and possibly some new enemy types from the campaign.
But like all leaks, take it with a grain of salt, but from what I’ve seen and heard, there is no reason to believe that what he has said was false.
