Halo Infinite for Xbox series X and Xbox 1?

I’ve had this question for a while: Keeping up to date with the Xbox series X, I believe it’s supposed to have something like 4 times the processing power of the Xbox One X (super impressive). This means it will be able to run huge battles, with some people saying it will be capable of supporting 2000 AI, that would be so cool to see in halo! But they already announced Halo Infinite will be for both platforms.

So, if halo infinite will also be designed for the Xbox 1 how are they going to be able to unlock the power for the Xbox series x?

I’d assume graphically theres going to be difference, much like Destiny 1 on 360 vs Xbone was mainly graphical and shader changes. That and probably depends on how the new engines performs as well.

This happens with every new console generation.

Developing AAA-budget games exclusively for a next-gen console at launch simply isn’t financially viable because the install base is zero.

The Series X version of the game will have better graphics, faster load times, maybe higher frame rates, enhanced audio, etc. We’re not sure what exactly is going to be different between the Xbox One and Series X versions.

There have been cross-gen games previously where the “better” version actually had substantive (gameplay) differences than the version designed for the weaker hardware. That may be true with Infinite but we aren’t sure.

Did they mention what will be available on both platforms? Maybe campaign will be SX only and multiplayer will be XBO free.

Through visuals and performance, I’d assume that’s it. Maybe better physics as long as it doesn’t change the game? This is the problem with cross gen games. The Halo after Infinite will be the one specifically designed for XSX that really takes advantage of the next gen hardware.

Here’s the problem:

As far as I can tell the X1 and XsX Halo Infinite will probably mostly be the same game so I feel like the X1 will hold the XsX features back while X1X will probably be there to show case higher end graphics. I feel like we won’t see the full potential of what XsX can do with Halo until Infinite 2.

On the other hand…Xbox One can do quite a lot with the limitations if 343i focus on game-play instead of graphics, which could mean less restrictions on what game-play elements the XsX can do but it really depends on what 343i do with the general game design.

I suspect there will be XsX exclusive features with the XsX port…maybe higher player counts like Battlefield 4 had 24 players on 360 while X1 had 64 players.

I agree with some of your points, but I don’t see the player count changing like it did with X 360 and X1, cross play between X1 and Series X has been confirmed, surely varying player counts will cause issues ?

No it hasn’t. 343i haven’t said anything about cross-play. All Infinite is doing is releasing on Windows, Xbox like how MCC launched on PC, X1.
Increasing the player count does not mean standard BTB would vanish, it might not even effect online but it does mean that custom games could hold more players.

Increasing players counts on XsX shouldn’t be as much of an issue if 343i actually make big maps that can cater to the larger player base. Increasing/decreasing player bases will always have issues…it’s just a matter of finding the right balance.

Anyway I’d rather cross-play not happen since all it will lead to is people cheating/modding.

According to this article it has. 343i might not have said it yet, but it will happen with Halo Infinite imo. I know a few players that recently upgraded to XS or XX, they won’t be buying Series X day one but will buy Halo Infinite. Do you really think 343i will split the player base when their publisher is heavily promoting cross play, play anywhere etc ? I think not.

I once heard Halo Infinite will push the Xbox One to it’s limits similar to how Halo 4 did with the 360. Since it’s a launch title, it will likely have subtle differences with nothing too noticeable between the Xbox One’s and Xbox Series X which I don’t mind. Plus, I think that would make cross-generational play easier.

I think I misread something somewhere, I think I was referring to there not being PC- XsX/X1 cross-play, which there wasn’t any confirmation.
Stating that XsX/X1 to PC cross-play is unlikely to happen just like how MCC from X1 - PC hasn’t happened either, I have no problems with consoles cross-playing with other Xbox consoles.

Anyway cross-play can work to help with population by using X1 series of consoles and XsX consoles via cross-play, I’m fine with that but I’d rather cross-play not include PC’s due to modding/cheating being common problem on PC. While I believe certain modes may have to be limited to the series XsX since would be frustrating if older consoles held a game back.

There is a program Microsoft is pushing called Smart Delivery. Basically it will be two versions of the game. But the benefit is buying it on one generation means you will not have to buy it on the other. It will be free.

Similar to how games are “Xbox One X Enhanced,” The same can be said for Xbox One/Series X games. Both will be the same game. But may run at different qualities and frame rates. I do not recommend playing Halo infinite on an Xbox One S or the Original Xbox One due to lack of power in its CPU. It actually may end up melting internal components.

The Xbox One games could say something like “Xbox Series X Enhanced” in order to show it is an improved version. That or “Smart Delivery Compatible.”

I was talking Xbox only not PC. I also agree with you there, Xbox / PC cross play has not been confirmed. I don’t think Halo Infinite will have exclusive modes on Series X though. That was what I was getting at when I first replied to you. I think there will be full cross play between X1 and Series X.

Halo Infinite is the same game on X1 and Series X. It’s not like 360 and X1 where we had different ports of Titanfall, AC Black Flag etc. We’ve been told that we don’t need to upgrade, what works on X1 will work on Series X, there will be no exclusive Series X games for two years etc.

If they say that and then limit modes to Series X that’s going to blow back on them imo. Anyway, who knows ? I’ve been wrong many times, I could be again lol. Hopefully we find out in July.

Yes it’s strange to see it not being developed exclusively for next-gen hardware and SSD pc’s. So maybe the next Halo will; which sounds better anyway since developers will have had more experience with the hardware by then.

But it’s important for Xbox to have this very consumer focused approach this time around, it will really improve the brand I’m sure of it.

If that is the case I will actually cry. If they do that they would probably destroy the halo lore community

probably an HD pack/patch like most companies did when they moved to 4K.
