So can you guys see 343i copying how most shooters are going in terms of “classes” before the matches start. For example you have your operators in Rainbow Six Siege, you have your tank/healer/dps for Overwatch and now Call of Duty is taking on the trend and moving towards a operator/role kind of selection for games. I feel like this system is actually beneficial to gaming when it comes to FPS since it adds more value and team work. But does take away the simplicity of jumping on and just gaming it out. What do you guys think?
Halo has never been a class based game, and never should be. Whatever trends there are, Halo should not follow them, because that would mean losing what makes the gameplay of Halo unique. And this is true for any game: we all benefit from a varied gaming landscape. Just because FPS games are popular, every game shouldn’t be an FPS. Just because battle royale games are popular, every game shouldn’t be a battle royale. And just because class based shooter are popular, every shooter shouldn’t be class based. In particular, in this day and age when almost every shooter out there is class based, Halo has a truly unique niche that should be cherised.

I suppose we shall see what 343i does in the future with this title.
This sounds like H4… No thanks. That isnt halo.
I don’t see halo following this type of style. maybe a game mode with classes would be cool, particularly if we got to play as the covenant and each species was a class, but certainly not the whole game

Yes.
I’ll keep saying this until people get the idea…
> Halo used to innovate. What 343i need to do now is work out what makes Halo Halo, and innovate it further. Stop taking inspiration from other games. If we pick up a Halo title it’s because we want to play Halo.
Halo should not follow the come-and-go trends of other modern shooters. 343i should take the essential elements of Halo (as designed by Bungie) and dial them up to eleven.
Doom (2016) is a good example of a game that understood its identity and modernised itself without simply following trends. I believe Halo can do an even better job.
Hmmm maybe for a specific game mode. For the base game I can’t see them adopting that kind of system. After H4 they realized how important same starts are to us and they already addressed that in H5, I can’t see them going backwards in that regard unless their goal is to move further away from what Halo is again, which I don’t think they’re going to.

I can follow behind this real good.
I have nothing against loadouts coming back as an optional feature in Forge, but that’s it. Halo is not a class based game, so I don’t see any real benefit in introducing them.
I don’t enjoy the idea of separating between classes. It would be horrible where each group had abilities/functions and specific weapons for each them. Everyone needs to have access to everything as they want and customize it. Unless somethings would be unlocked with credits and progression system (no, no microtransactions).
I so forgot about the load out system for Halo Reach. I didn’t really mind it either.

Doom is an excellent example of a franchise that re-invented itself and not straying too far (if at all) from what made it great. The campaign was true to form, but not multiplayer, loadouts rubbed some fans the wrong way. However, I believe the multiplayer was designed by an outside developer.
Doom Eternal also looks to have improved on Doom 2016 without losing it’s identity. I believe the multiplayer is also getting the full attention of the in house team too, but nothing more than that has been mentioned. Halo needs to get it’s Identity back, but that’s up to 343i.
Halo does not need classes imo.
