Halo Infinite Flighting Day 1 Thoughts

After playing Halo: Infinites multiplayer for a little over 2 hours and about a dozen matches, I think I’m gonna give some thoughts about the game before clocking in for the night.

First of all, the actual gameplay is fantastic. Feels like a slightly evolved & sped-up version of classic Halo. The main additions to classic Halo being sprint, a very slight zoom for accuracy, and the ability to climb up certain objects, allowing for more paths around levels. The gunplay is silky smooth, the one map shown today, while not totally my thing since I’m more of a BTB player, is very apparently built with the new mechanics in mind and is a great map with a lot of competitive viability. The new weapons available all packed a punch, especially the Bulldog and Commando.

It’s not all sunshine and rainbow’s for this flight though, I do wanna leave a disclaimer the following are basically bugs and has nothing to do with the main gameplay. First of all the game is pretty unoptimized at this current state, they did warn about this ahead of time but I was getting around 30-40fps on medium on a GTX 1660 TI at 1440p, dropping the render resolution to 1080p made the game run at a visibly better 50-60fps. The game frequently forgot all my keybinds and my FoV every time I restarted the game, which was annoying upon re-entering a match and realizing none of the binds I had made (which were several since the default key-binds aren’t very good) had saved requiring me to frantically revert them in-game.

All-in-all the game is great but the current beta has a decent amount of annoying issues, but I’m most certain these will all be fixed by the final release in a few months. If anybody wants to add something in replies feel free to do so, not that I can stop you anyways.

I’ll be sure to let ya know when I finally get passed the “Problem Detected” boss!
