The most recent Arena Flight was highly engaging with plenty of things to explore. I enjoyed the dynamic range of UI options, Button remapping, as well as the diverse and unexpected gun positioning. With that being said, there were a few UI elements that were mildly unattractive. The arena scoreboards are located at the bottom center of the screen and feel out of the way. In most situations I would say that out of the way would be a good thing, however, due to having to look down at the very bottom of the screen to check the score, often times I forgot it was even there and in high pressure moments when having any extra information to guide your decision making in a match, I would not realize that the enemy team gained the upper hand. Obviously, I am equally responsible for losing track of who is winning, but as someone with ADHD, if something as important as the scoreboard is out of sight, it is also out of mind. I suggest it being paired with another UI element that is often checked, the health bar. Anytime I die, or shields break, I check it like checking the mirrors of a car. I am not sure if that would be the only fix, because the size of the scoreboard was also a little bit small, but it would be a nice addition if the scoreboard could be customized in the UI menu, where size, color, transparency, and position could be unique to the player and their attention needs. The only other UI change I would love to see, would be the radar and weapon UI elements having their own customization as well. Mostly just positioning. When I moved my the location of my weapon UI to be closer to what felt good, so good in fact that it felt like I was holding the gun myself, I noticed that the ammo counter stayed where it was. Which, to my own selfish desire, would get that satisfying clean feeling if I was also able to match the weapon UI to match the gun position and the radar to mirror that position for perfect symmetry.
Overall, the flight has me, a veteran halo player who fell off for a very long while, excited to see the future of halo and how it might relive moments of its former glory days.
