I’m sure, that with Halo Infinite the Firefight will also return to Halo.
But I really hope that it will not be the trash it became in Halo 5 [sorry not sorry] because it was something totally different from ODST and Reach Firefight.
ODST introduced Firefight and hell - I was so exited, especially when I and a friend played it ony my console in co-op mode, later then the Vidmaster Challenge… It was so awesome.
I loved how Reach actually expanded it with the Bombardement, the maps in general and the awesome asssassanations of the covenant enemies - but I was really dissapointed when I heard the first time of Firefight Arcade - I know, it’s fun to play, totally easy for a Credit grind and for the recommendations of course. But I was so dissapointed that a mode, where I once fight so hard for survival and the Recon armor, got so bad annihilated.
As I said, I understand if people wanted more fun and had more fun with it when you are just unbreakable because of an heavy overshield etc but it was so sick and bad in my opinion - cause real survival was not really so “an awesome thing” and you got there less Credits.
I got really happy when Unearthed with the Defiant Map Pack was released and I got a new Firefight map, a new challenge and ways of survival. Especially when the four Ultra elites drop-pod went down and I knew I got no time to prepare, that it was me or them. Especially in the Firefight mode where you were alone. I just felt like a Spartan had to feel when everything on Reach went to doom.
But when I heard, that Halo 5 Firefight was announced, I was also happy because I never felt good with Halo 5, mainly because I really liked the forge only.
When Firefight was released, I was really dissapointed - like “look how they massacred my boi” - Firefight was awesome but now you were able to always get the nice fancy stuff when you wanted it, were crushing the Covenant… or whatever they were and the Prometheans with 4 tanks, banshees etc.
It was no Firefight.
Also there was never a feeling of “survival” or real challenges - just annoying Prometheans who jumped everywhere. And when you tried to assassanate an important target it was with a later patch impossible to do it again because it was too easy. But it’s just how it be - if you can make it quick, independet if you are an ODST, Spartan II, III or an IV - you will make it quick.
But was frustrated me the most was that I was forced to do this and this and this in this ammount of time. It wasn’t Firefight at all and it felt so wrong to play it. Don’t want to say it was bad but it was more something like Spartan Ops but never a Firefight Mode.
So with that said, I really hope to see a new Version of the old Firefight. An update of something which was really an awesome mode in ODST and made even better with Reach [well for at least without Arcade].
But what should come back or should be new?
- Weapon drops by an Longsword like in Reach? Yes - Enemy Drop-Pods like in Reach when Grunts with Rocket-launchers or Brutes or the deadly Ultra-Elites dropped out? Defenitly yes! - Extra targets? Like “Save Sergeant Silva [lol] and escort him/protect him until xxx” for extra points or weapons - yes. - Buying weapons with points you made in the Firefight rounds? -Na sorry, please no - Should the numbers of enemies increase with the numbers of players in the lobby? - Of courseThere are so many things that could be implemented with Firefight and - personally - I hope there will be something like a new Vidmaster Challenge with it. Also I would love to see that if we have a ranked system we had for Slayer etc also for Firefight. Cause getting a reward for being one of the best Banished beater is something cool and of course more Credits or EXP or whatever will there in Halo Infinite when you play on the “normal” kind of Firefight and really less on the Arcade one. Cause to be honest - Arcade is not totally bad but it’s just not worth a Spartan lol
Edit: Not forget about friendly AI - like that you can order different kind of Marines, from the standard Marine to the ODST
