I wanted to share some thoughts & ideas that I honestly wasnt sure where subtopic I could fit this under but here goes!
-
considering the level of customization we have with settings - I was wondering if it is possible for Halo Infinite to allow for custom HUDs. I ask this because I dislike having my radar on the bottom of my screen - my preference would be offset upper left side of the center. That way I dont have to take focus off whats going on in the centre without the need for full head tilts to look at my radar.
-
Bouncing off that request & digging deeper into HUD Customization - maybe a really cool cosmetic to allow people to have would be to be able to change their HUD Style - maybe it would change depending on what armor core you pick for your spartan or maybe even give the player the choice to pick of HUDs from Halo 1,2,3,odst, reach, 4, 5? It might even be a step further for accessibility & attracting players who might of stopped playing Halo at certain points pick up the game again!
-
a more streamlined friendslist, i found it quite confusing to find friends on steam & xbox during the flight - I play Halo on both systems. Infinite showed my friendlist for the ecosystem Xbox - but didnt really find it simply enough to be able to find & join players on steam. Could the friendslist on halo infinite not incorporate a list that has both but use the related service icon to show who is on what system?
-
would love to see a firing range that isnt on a timer - I spent time during the flight to tweak my controller settings & paddles on my Series 2 controller - I found it annoying and pressured by the timer of the weapon course i was on! Would love to have a firing range that allows full access to all the weapons, not on a timer but scores etc arnt counted!

Would it be possible that when applying paint, textures over our spartans rather than have the one colour goes over everything, is it possible we could apply a paint to a specific piece like just the helmet for example?
-
I know the flight was only a preview but I hope our own AIs will be more than just shapes! Would love an AI companion to be humanoid - not unlike Cortana or would that not be lore accurate with our AIs not being SMART?
I agree with many of these suggestions. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if there is some technical reason coatings are only applicable to the entire Spartan. We know the same system used for coating Spartans and gear is used for virtually every in-game object, like crates, forge objects, fusion coils, and enemies. So it’s possible this limits them to applying one coating per-object.
The AIs, I don’t mind being more simplistic, they appear to be taking design ques from Vergil in ODST, I wouldn’t be surprised if Vergil and Auntie Dot both become options in the future. Along with more abstract visual designs, like Auntie Dot would have. But yeah, I think they are avoiding humanoid AI because A) lore, and B) it would require a ton more time and effort to visually design and animate.
I do wish they would speak in the customization menu though, so you can get an idea of their voice and personality while choosing them, maybe make it so hitting Y plays one of a handful of stock voice lines, or they say something when you tab over to and equip them.

Yeah I immediately thought of Virgil when I first saw them! Now I aint a life long halo fan or a hobbyist about the franchise so my overall in-depth knowledge on lore isnt all that great but Virgil I think its the only visual instance we have seen AI that isnt a Smart AI, I look at alot of the AIs in Halo & I think Cortana, Roland, the AI aboard the Spirit of Fire.
As for AI Customization to bounce off you, maybe go further than maybe being able to select your AIs appearance & voice separate from one another too! So Teardrop is my preferred voice but not so much appearance!

We have seen a Covenant dumb AI in the CE Anniversary terminals (turns out those are the most advanced AI they have actually) and Auntie Dot may have also been a dumb AI, though I don’t know if they ever confirmed that or not she was never shown to have a “body” like the various Smart AI we’ve seen and is represented by a glowing diamond pattern throughout Reach. Which is why I say we could get some abstract designs like that.
As for separate voice/appearance customization it’s a neat thought, but I don’t know that it’s super necessary, considering we don’t even know how often we will get to see our AI in the finished game.
I’m a bit concerned with there custom AI will lead in the future though. 343 has strongly implied that our multiplayer Spartan is being set up to become the main character of the franchise, and if that carries over into campaign content down the road… Will the AI carry into that? Will they record a bunch of unique dialogue depending on your AI of choice? Or will the AI say generic things in your ear like they do in MP and never weigh into the story? I’m not even sure the idea will go beyond this game into the rest of the franchise, as it’s adds so much extra work, or requires heavy workarounds.

You know honestly what I think would be a really good approach to putting our MP Spartan in the main game, take the route Hideo Kojima did with Raiden. Have our Spartan join Blue Team & we play as our Character with the Chief to see how awesome he is from our 1st person perspective. I forgot about Dot in Reach! I havent played either of the CE versions of Halo 1 & 2 so i had no idea of the Covenant having their own AI. Im aware of an AI that existed with the Precursor race, one that Cortana is the spritiual successor of.
I think the approach of having an AI is a solution to a long term issue - Jeff being nearly 70 this year, he will have to hang up the boots at being Halos MP announcer at somepoint!
