You may as well give up hope on there being zero microtransactions, we already know they exist and have even seen them. However, as long as the gameplay is unaffected by paid content, and the non paid content is also still pretty good, then I don’t really care much at all. They have already said that the Fracture Events will be free, and even though we have only seen the armor for one of them it looks absolutely badass, so it will probably be fine.
There has already been close to $1,000 USD worth of time- and region-exclusive FOMO microtransactions. And we are still months away from launch.
The only thing that concerns me about multiplayer being F2P is the potential lack of a good anti-cheat. I expect to see cheaters pretty frequently soon after launch.
F2P model is great. Means more players. I don’t care about MTX as long as they are cosmetic only (which I think they will be) and won’t affect our ability to play/win games.
Its the best possible route they could’ve taken in my opinion.
An abundance of new players, more updates, streamlining cross progression and crossplay etc.
The only thing “negative” about this model is that there will be more microtransactions which are all cosmetic based. And said cosmetics could be unlocked through simply just playing the game, although I believe some cosmetics are going to be premium.

- dont like it but nothing i can do - bro the only system in the flight that had 0 issues was the store and battle pass if nothing else in this game works you bet those two will function - they could have but with throwing out player choice of color when there are so many more things they could have monetized makes me think they wont. - in the flight one of the main things they wanted us to do was make sure the micro transaction system was working - you still could have gotten coatings from like chips a hoy or something last year.
I’m excited for free to play with cosmetic mtx. Only thing I’m worried about (and this applies to all the upcoming pvp shooters, pay to play and free to play) is running into people using those external cheats that use capture cards, emulated inputs and machine vision/learning to essentially become a bot with the difficulty turned up to inhuman levels. I have no idea how these will be dealt with, and I can’t think of a single way to deal with them that doesn’t risk accidental bans of legitimately skilled players. How do you distinguish a high level player from a cheater using an externally running bot tuned to just look like a high level player? At that point, we’ll be playing against bots in every mode, not just bot slayer.

Doesn’t cheaters have more to do with the game being on PC, than the game being F2P?

Yes, the fact that the game is coming to PC will inherently bring cheaters, but the fact that it is also F2P will exacerbate the issue.

I’m still not following how F2P means cheaters.
Not trying to start a fight, Im just not familiar with what difference F2P makes over classic MP as part of a package, which would mean more cheaters.
In a month after release, the game will be littered with cheaters and absurd MTX. Enjoy it while it last.
I won’t be buying any thing off of mtx. I’ve already preordered the game so I’m good

There is no financial loss to the cheater after they get banned, which is why I say having the game F2P will exacerbate the issue. If a cheater had to buy a $60 game every time they got banned they would either quit playing the game or have to buy the game again for $60.
I say that if you have to buy a $60 game every time you got caught red handed, you either quit the game or quit cheating (for the most part). Now there are some people out there that can just buy a $60 game over and over again, but for the most part having a financial incentive to not cheat would deter most cheaters.
I have yet to experience cheaters in ranked matches on MCC…I think the trend will continue for Halo Infinite. MCC is cross platform by the way and has a decent anti-cheat software. We will see how it pans out though.

There’s two things I’d consider about it.
#1 free means more draw in players which also increases the likelihood of cheaters as well as making it easier on them to get back in after getting banned on an account.
#2 free multiplayer gets less money put into it, and that can mean less money put into anti cheat as well.
dude even halo 2 and 3 had microtransactions, in the form of map packs that split the playerbase and made queue times longer for those who didn’t buy them

That makes sense actually.
mid they get banned, it’s only a new email address and account, and they’re up and running.
Hopefully they have a decent system in place.
