I heard Hidden X talking about the emblems & nameplates in his overview of the tech preview, however, I wasn’t even able to change it or even access that tab in the preview. Did anyone else have that problem? I seen quite a few people have different ones but every time I tried to go in & change it, it wouldn’t let me even click on it, so idk if that was an isolated problem or widespread.
You were only able to change them through the halo waypoint Beta app on your phone.

This. Also many people didn’t seem too happy with the options given but I have a strong feeling that it was very limited as the app was in the beta stage.

He’s right. You could only change it through the Halo Waypoint App that was being Beta tested. Anyone who had an invitation to the flight could access the app.
I will say, however, I agree with Hidden X. I really don’t like the preset emblems. They need to do away with them.

Ahhh okay, I was wondering if I had missed something or what, But thank you all! I really hope they adopt the MCC version of emblem customization. I’m guessing that based on a lot of people’s feedback, maybe they’ll take that into consideration & modify it. Hopefully at least. Thanks again guys
Select presets and MCC style customization would be nice. 343 could include special emblem presets in Battle Passes as well. Everyone wins this way.

wont happen so def dont be expecting this. Given the game is ftp and they want to use emblems as a promotional item, the last thing they are gonna do is allow full cusotmization of them. They want to reduce the number of penises and or potential profanity and or increase the potential partnerships they can do. Plus, it will give them more control regarding a consistent quality they are going for.

The preset emblems are almost certainly that way so that emblems can be added into battle passes, or unlocked through challenges. I’m not sure I really agree with that, but honestly I have never super cared that much about my emblem, so I’m sure I will find one I like and not think much about it after.

Who said we wanted cod’s version of Customizable emblems? Halos customizable emblems have always been brand-friendly, and did not give you options to make profanities. And while I do agree we are likely getting preset emblems, that is solely due to money, and not because of the fear we would make -Yoink!-’ emblems.

I wouldn’t say that it’s always been brand friendly in halo 3 you was able to make a emblem that looks like a duck(replace u with I because I’m sure the word would be censored) and I remember the two fingers emblem being used to make a middle finger emote

its not what you want here. Its what benefits them from a marketing standpoint. Any form of customization in the context of emblems reduces their ability to entice companies for cross promotion. Why would a promotion allow a static emblem when players can somewhat make their own. And no, promotions providing aspects players use to customize would not work as that can be easily used to no longer be what was being promoted.
And yes, whether thats a significant reason is besides the point. Being ftp opens the doors for many types of people and the more players manipulating emblems the more the potential for profanity increases in one way or another. I dont think thats a significant portion of the decision, most of it is business and control.
I think there was a limited time beta on iOS but it ended up filling to capacity.
