Halo Infinite has some positives going for it…there is more explorability and variety, weapons look interesting, characters are better than Halo 5’s characters, music seems decent too.
However, there were some things that are shocking fans, and were a bit of a let down:
1) No Beta/Flighting yet? 343i has spent years on this game, and we have yet to see a flighting program or beta for it…this is a serious letdown and disappointment.
2) Graphics and Texture****s…Things look too clean, and almost cartoony. There don’t seem to be scratches or dirt on metal, everything is squeaky clean. Halo should not look like a plastic toy. Given the time 343i has had, and the supposedly superior “next gen” console, the graphics and textures should be significantly better. For example, the older Halos look way better than Halo 5 (though Halo 5 forge was awesome).
3) Grappling Hook…this looks way too spammable, and doesn’t really belong in Halo IMO. Please no. Frankly, even if it stays in the game, there are so many more “high tech” gimmicks to enhance terrain traversal abilities that I think fit the sci-fi space soldier theme better. How about jet pack, or boot thrusters, or boot spikes that allow you to scale cliff walls?
4) HUD…some people are saying the weapon HUD should go back to the top of the screen, and the yellow, hexagon thingys that pop up when your shields are taking damage just look out of place, distracting, and annoying. Please remove those yellow things, 343i, thanks.
5) Halo: Mincecraft Evolved…The terrain hexagons everywhere look odd and make Halo look like Minecraft. Way too excessive in quantity. Like, eww.
6) That Phantom Tho…What is with that Phantom animation/flyover and model? I have heard people say it looks too blocky and like a toy.
7) Fusion Coil “Noob Blocks”…Just no. Halo is not Doom, nor is is Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. This is absolutely not a return to form, or classic gameplay, or reboot…this is a step further away from what Halo was. Perhaps it could be fun and possible to balance in multiplayer…but we don’t really know since we haven’t gotten a public beta to test it…Speaking of testing things, that leads me to…
8) Multiplayer…I’m sure we’ll get news of this further down the road, but it would be nice to see some gameplay or at least hear about it. No access to multiplayer or public testing is concerning, considering how far along Halo Infinite’s development is…
What are your thoughts everyone?
